We had 47 this morning while we had coffee, our high today was 61. I did make a small fire this morning and then stacked the wood we brought in a few days ago.

Since we have some cooler weather coming in near the end of the week, we'll put in another two loads either tomorrow or Monday.

MO. Wood, the power lines are underground in my housing tract too but the feeder coming in from the highway runs overhead so the last 500 yards hardly affects reliability.

First fire in a week! Been mid fifties to low sixties all week. Blowing into 30's and around 40 degrees, suppose to get to 25 tonight and windy all night. Just fired up the Napoleon with what else but some ash. High of 30 tomorrow so looks like a fire all day:dex:.

61 here. Stove is room temp and the blower and fans are off. I can hear my ears ring it's so quiet.
The wood shed looks almost exactly like it would on New Year's Eve.
It's the antithesis to the normal hoarding method to get on the 3 year plan.
We'll lite it off here in the next hour, before the cold front marches through.

Mid 70s here today, 35 coming tonight. Been burning a bit of ailanthus each evening just because, but it really is looking like the end is near for this burning season. The 3 cords I put on the porch for last winter have seen me through last winter and this and I still have some left. I worked hard to get on the 3 year plan a few years back. With consumption as low as it has been, it is looking like I managed to get on a 5 or 7 year plan.

Got up to 65ºF today. No wood stove fire but cut a couple dead pine trees down next to the house and burnt up some of the branches in the old barbecue .

Down to 25º out, dropped all day. Started the stove back up at 6 p.m. before everyone arrived for small group bible study tonight. Just put the night burn of hickory and oak in about an hour ago. 74º inside.

It was in the 70s the past couple days. Haven't had a fire in a week. All the snow on top of the pool cover melted and I was able to pump it off. All the ice is gone on the reservoirs. Maybe only two or three times I saw guys fishin' on them this year. Only saw a bad ice fishing season once before in the past almost thirty years. Finally chillin' back down tonight. Either March is gonna hit us hard or next year it'll be six months of winter. One way or the other we're gonna pay.

Jeez sorry to hear about the bad ice fishing season. Im thinking of going out myself tomorrow. From many of the comments on this thread it appears like its been a very warm winter for many folks. There is lots of snow in the yard here and the kids and I loaded the garage with doug fir, lodgepole pine and larch today so that I dont have to dig for an arm load of wood 3-4 times a day. I go through the larch less than the pine so I should be good for garage loading of the pine at least for 7-10 days and the larch for 10-15 days Im hoping. Its -9c/16f right now and Ive got the coals raked forward and ready for a overnight burn of larch.

Had the windows open yesterday. Woke up this morning to snow. Temps in the upper 20s. Loaded the oakleaf with maple ash and birch.

20° F on the back porch this morning. A little wind makes it feel colder though. Weather channel says feels like 13. I have a mix of Maple, Ash, and Pine in the Wood Gun this morning.

Just came in from cutting and ran across this guy. I don't think I've seen one in February before. I'd expect the peepers in a month or so. Maybe he knows something.
