It's all poplar (what I'm cutting) far as I know. There seems to be at least 2 different poplar in the local area. Some grow nice and tall, with few lower branches, and others are just ugly, gnarly, nasty trees. Some of the wood has sat for 1-2 years judging by the bark shedding/heavy cracks. Others I'm sure was fell by the beavers before the snow fell in October. This is load #2 of the same stuff.

Current temp 34° only heading down to 31° overnight. Warmer daytime temps, the snow is melting at a rapid pace, while the rivers and streams are really starting to flow. Im hoping thewoodlands Is right, and we get another 3 storms. Only loading the oakleaf up with a half load of the usual mix.

Yeah it looks pretty warm considering the melt line on the grass.

As I drove my normal route into work this morning I noticed that something was missing. Snowbanks! For the most part, they have been replaced with ditches full of water and load limit signs. (seasonal weight restrictions) Yup, road limits are on since last weekend.

Maybe while you were busy doing other things the city came along with big snow blowers attached to loaders and launched those snow banks into dump trucks? LOL, Thats what they did here today although they didnt do my street!

56 to mid 60's with cloudy sunshine, chance of rain.
The armload size fire is working well in the owb,,the greedy hungry beast has definitely curbed his appetite the past couple weeks.

Burning wood? Not here. We've had a week straight of mid 60 degree dry days. Gonna hit 70s tomorrow....then a 24hr drop to 19 that involves tornadoes, 60mph winds, and hail. Gotta love indiana :(

I think this is the longest stretch I haven't burned wood in forever mid winter.

We hit 55 today but will be dropping to 34 so we'll have a small fire tonight.

Pine in the owb - last night's load (mostly poplar and pine, couple splits of hickory to keep the coals) went a cool 20 hrs. :) Loving the brief thaw.

70 here today. Broke a record that was 62 in 1980 something . No wood or hho being used today. Windows open felt nice - now I can see where the dog pooped all winter. It happens

    68° yesterday. 72° today. 75° tomorrow. 65° Saturday.

I don't see a fire in my future until Sunday morning when it's forecast to be down to 34°.

they will do that occasionally through the downtown areas when the streets start to get too narrow. These lack of snowbanks were out in the country side.

The One That Consumes is feeling very lonely today... well, for many days actually. 74F in the house right now, and that was with the windows open all day. Supposed to get up to 75F for a high tomorrow. Probably won't have to burn anything until Saturday night or Sunday. And that's after having only one fire this week, which if I recall ended up with the house being 76F after the overnight burn. This is still February, right? Yikes! :hair:

I was at work today and they finally did our street although it wasnt done to my curb but at least its widened enough for the vehicles to get through and kids to walk without to much danger. Its -12c/10.5f and the stove is full of larch and Im in shorts. Im ok with more winter :banana:because Ive been to busy with work (economy good here) to be able to get out and ice fish for trout, kokanee salmon and pike! I better get busy.:seasoned:

Just looked at the regional radar map and it shows that we're supposed to be getting it now.
Just checked out the window and nothing but dark is out there.
