50 Wood furnace has been cold for 24 hours. Brushed the pipe this morning. Windows open getting some mid winter fresh air. Propane on tap.
Maintained a small fire in the OWB these last few days. Only on 1/2 of the box and only about halfway high lasts for a day.
We had 34 this morning so we burned the last of some so so wood. We hit 46 today and the temp is falling so I have five splits of sugar maple going, this should be good until the overnight burn.
Made it to 52* today 38* and I just stoked the beast with oak and locust, that should keep it fed until morning. The micro people went home about 3:00 I am tired.
"Micro people". So, with this warmer weather, I decided to change the burn plan a little. Busted out the manual splitter (axe, with me at the helm) to resplit some Oak and Maple, effectively burning half the wood. Seems to be working quite well so far. OAT is somewhere about 43 with an IAT of 73. Had one of those modified fires about 7:30 AM, and it might stay at this temp until dinner time. Only used about 2 2/3 cords so far, with 3 months to go. If only the ice would go away, I'd deal with the mud.
It's a chilly 35*F / 2*C here this morning. What happened to summer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
got to 49 yesterday.. stove off all day got down to 28 last nite house still 65 this morning.. but going to 5 degrees tonight so I just lit it an hour ago.. 42 hours without wood and there were some coal... hot ember really... STT was about 110... I gave her a good clean out and used my first match since November
Sitting at 30 right now. Just loaded some more Pine in the boiler. Might as well burn it up. Keeping house toasty while I cracked a few windows to get some fresh air in the house.
Current temp 25° headed down to 7° tonight. Loaded the oakleaf with ash maple and birch for the overnight.
Went out running errands this afternoon. It was hard to believe but the dash temperature on my bike was showing 71ºF.
I ride the year around but this year it has been easier than usual. In winters past I had to ride in 25ºF weather to ride every week. If the roads are clear I ride and I consider this clear enough.
It's 24 out tonight with the temps dropping, since we haven't run the pellet stove for a while we'll let the wood stove go cold and burn the P.S. tonight. I'll take the ashes out of the wood stove tomorrow so we can use that when needed.
Basement is down to 60 now. (That's where the computer is) No fire since last week. Just may have to change that this week sometime.
