A couple hours before the big game, outside temps warm, in the low 40's, things are melting, but an impending snowstorm tomorrow could bring up to 10 inches depending on the track. 2 more storms after that within the week, snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Looks like more firewood stocking on the deck is in order. Oak, ash, hickory on the menu.
Good six inches of very wet, a bit icy snow here. Glad I cleared at 6 PM and Midnight. The small additional overnight fall was very icy and harder to remove.
I was surfing through some channels when CNN came up, they had the weather on, I saw 12 inches of snow for this area from this next storm coming on Tuesday. Just loaded up the Liberty.
48 degrees today and I went for 17 hours on a 1/2 load. Only took about 5 minutes to have the next load up and blazin.
31º here and the house is at 75º on a few small splits of cherry and american elm from lunch time. Lots fo the snow melted off yesterday but we got about 1" of new today. Was going to drag the splitter out this afternoon but just couldn't get out neutral. I really need to get busy splitting because I just found out at church today that the farmer that I cut on most of the time just bought another new farm. I know the pattern.....most of the trees will come down, need tillable ground.
Snow storm predicted here for Tuesday. Wood shed getting low so I hauled in a little today. RA cickin' my butt so didn't get to much in but should be good for 3 weeks or so. I will have to drag some more in later. What I put up in the wood shed this fall should have gotten me through the winter, but this winter has been much colder consistently than usual so burning more wood.
Cherry, Maple and Oak. Temps hovering around 32°, and it's snowing. 3-5" expected, then 5-8" on Wednesday. We go back into the freezer too.
Hovering around 28°F currently, heavy snow. 8"-10" expecteded, throwing in pin oak, hoping for usable coals this evening when I get home from work. More sleet snow Wednesday, potential huge storm this weekend.
I think it was about 14 this morning, we are burning Beech,Soft Maple, Ash and some Sugar Maple. With some storms moving in, we'll push more wood in tomorrow night.
Yup. I am going to move some wood in today. And then some more tomorrow. I am glad all my wood is under my covered porch. The more I think about making those bins to hold my wood, the more I am not sure about them. I thought it would mean less handling of the wood by being able to move them around with the machine. Because then I would bring the wood over to the house one bin at a time. But then I would be fighting the snow that would be on top of them. In front of them and wherever I need to move the machine to and from to bring them to the house. This way it is right outside the cellar window and all is covered. All I have to do is shovel a small area between the porch entrance to the cellar window. About a 10x10 area. I also don't have to worry about making ruts with the machine if I want to move the wood in when things are not frozen up yet.
Stayed just below freezing all day. Received a heavy wet 10" leaving work early to reload the stove. More moderate snow Tuesday night changing to sleet and rain. Gigantic snowstorm this weekend.
Waiting on our "Big" snow event. Hopefully we will getting something out of it & it just not all hype. It's honey locust/mulberry/oak for me for the next two weeks with some hedge thrown in for good measure.
Ran the sooteater up the chimney today, it was awesome...in the 30's...got ready for the storm with extra water just in case and woodbox full...Lol...plenty adult bevy's and food...Is all good...
