If you can't double your age, start thinking about your plot & headstone, after you take care of that it's all fun. Have a good day.
I have heard recently that people who live in colder weather live longer. I should have no problem living double my age at this point!
Apparently I have not been burning enough wood. My NG bill just went over $100. It is due to be read on Monday so it will probably be about $110. The lowest bill in the summer is in the high $30s for hot water/dryer and cooking so that still isn't bad. I really don't need to get up two hours early to stuff the insert on its way down. I also had the basement heat turned on for this past week and just making hot water uses more energy because the cold water is so much colder.
20° this morning and windy. Burning some Ash, Pine, and a little Cherry. I like the signature weather banners Woodlands!
The keep saying we'll get snow but it never happens, maybe this time. We could use a good foot of snow, just so the snowmobile trails. They had called for 4-8 inches on Saturday, I don't see that on any of the weather sites today. I just found it, they're calling for 3-6 inches.
Been colder than the Klondike here for so long. Burning lots of wood. Snow storm coming. No matter, there is still wood in the wood shed.
Was 43° earlier today. Now it's 36° and the house is at 76°. Threw in two very small Locust splits a couple hours ago. House has been as high as 78° today. Snow due on Monday. Then a cool down in temps again.
25° this morning. Burning through a bunch of small White Ash and Box Elder rounds. Looks like we got about 2-2.5 inches. How much did you get up there Woodlands?
Trying to get my morning coals burnt down....Its 12 degrees here. Watching the little ground rat coming out of his hole. What will he choose? Winter or Spring? Edit: it looks like he says 6 more weeks of winter....
Yesterday Pittsburgh was in the 50's, and most of the snow melted. This morning it's still at 43F (and dropping). Unfortunately I've just finished off the last shoulder season-appropriate wood I had that was dry. Black locust is a bit difficult to get going by itself in this weather.
It's 32 degrees out so I'm burning down some coals from the overnight burn, after that, the ashes will go outside in the 30 gallon garbage can in the woods. They're still calling for snow seems like we never get it. We'll get more Beech going once the ashes are taken out.
Just unloaded the ashes and put some hedge and oak in now to get the house warmed back up. I guess I played outside too long and let the stove cool off too much for 9 degrees.
