Got up to 5F out and 60F in and nothing burning in the stove??!!!!! The Mrs. Stayed up late and said she would put wood in before she went to bed I guess not . Not to worry jammed some ash maple and cherry in a little match and ahhhhh instant heat!
Considering myself lucky at 24°. It'll be single digits overnight for the next couple days though. Oak and maple will be going in the box.
-3 right now. I fell asleep on the couch, right by the stove. Looking at hot embers from all of that primo stuff, up 20 minutes earlier than typical. I'll reload right before going to work., But I'll push the choocher valve in to get some more air to all those hardwood coals until then.
5º outside, 70º in, the boiler was running a bit also this morning. White oak, locust and ash going in the Buck in a few, then I'm off to see the wizard.
A cool 7 degrees out of doors, comfy in here. stoked the hungry monster with hedge, ash, cherry and locust late last nite, water lines to the furnace are still cooking hot,,,,just had a bacon, egg and cheese sam'witch ....wondering what's on the History channel?
Ah, snow for you in Texas. Now, I hear Alabama is getting an inch of snow. That's going to wreak havoc down there. basod, are you getting snow?
We had 6 this morning with the basement temp at 78, upstairs temp in the living room at 70 and the sleeper at 72. The P.S. was shut down earlier this morning, we have a load of Cherry going the the Liberty.
Awoke to 9 and a lot of coals. This Maple continues to impress me. I got up around 7, but went back to bed and didn't get back up until 10. Still lots of coals and the house was 68. Put in 2 more splits n/s, then 2 e/w, and before I even got the door shut, one of 'em was going up in flames. House is back up to 72, and I turned down the DV to it's lowest setting. High should be 16 today, which isn't a problem, even if I turn off the DV.
6 @ 6am 15 now Sorted some oak out of the Woodroom stacks to go with coal. Packed tight for the long haul. 20 miles north of us got about 18" of snow last nite. We got a dusting .
We hit 19 today and then started to head south, just burning down some coals from this mornings fire and then load up with some Cherry.
17°F right now toasty 75° inside burning Pinyon pine.......... Freezing rain for tomorrow and heavy rain and flooding into next week.
its 32ish raining and raw changing back over to sleet/freezing rain/snow? Just stuffed the Clydesdale with some maple and SYP, next up some Red Oak center blocks
Before After Had to dig a little to avoid some low BTU black locust and a lonely piece of red elm. She's packed pretty tight but I ran out of small stuff to fill in at the top. This load will last until 9AM....Stir the coals... Reload around 10AM.
