"Thunder snow" Lol...I have heard that several times throughout my life but if I ever reacted like Jim Cantori did that time on TV I am sure someone would off smacked me and would be told not to act foolish...
Mid 20s here. Just loaded up with the same stuff I loaded the boiler with this morning: some nasty maple that was hip high laying on the ground - it took every inch of the 20" bar on my 362 cutting from either side. Towed my splitter to the property and this thing stopped it twice. Never seen a more gnarly wood than this thing had in its butt logs.. Never met a heavier maple, either. What a back breaker! I remember telling my daughter as she ran the hydro lever that I would love it when this bastard was set to burn after all the grief we went through to get it.. Loaded the stove at 630 this morning and still had a huge coal bed when I opened it up (idling) at 930pm.
Since we never had a fire until this afternoon, tonight I have the pellet stove set on 76 and the liberty loaded with 4 splits of hard maple and 4 splits of cherry. It's 25 out with the temp trending up, the temp inside the house is 70 but it feels like a cool 70.
35F here with a slight wind. No real snow or cold predicted as of now. Cloudy & 30's. Typical west MI weather for December. Got the gravel parking area graded earlier after plowing while a bit soft. Running a mix of oak & elm on a slow burn. 73F inside. Kinda boring weather, but easy to heat in. Off to bed. You folks in that storm path be careful!
We had a little snow storm pass over today but the snow never hit the ground. Temperature rising sense 9 p.m. 37 now, Wind Speed S 14 G 24 mph, burnin boxelder with a little ash. No snow on the ground, doesn't look pretty but I like it. Just cold enough so it's not muddy by the stacks. Low tonight 31 Well Seasoned Have fun playing in the snow, hope everything turns out okay
High 20s for the overnight tonight. Don't know what's in The One Who Consumes. Better half built the overnight fire, and she made a real nice one too!
Thunder snow is pretty cool to see. Although I never acted like Jim cantori when I've seen it. It's cool and all, but I've seen it a few times and it seems to happen more often than I recall growing up.
Elm, ironwood and beech in the quadrafire. 32 out but a real feel of 21. 70 in the house. Yes, that storm missed us, you fine folks in New England stay safe and hopefully nobody loses power. Edit, nobody , I hope you don't lose power either. Lol
25 with 22mph winds now. 30 mph on the way. (Hope it hurries!) And 6" to 10" predicted for this round. Feels like 5 now; when I punch in, it'll feel like anything but above zero!!!
17° going up to 32° Heavy snow arriving with wind. Loaded the oakleaf up with a bunch of ash and birch.
Will do, snow starting late morning continuing into tonight when the show starts ending late morning tomorrow
