It's getting a bit chilly this morning. Pine is such a hot wood that it had no problem keeping the house pleasant yesterday but now that it's late the usual mix of larch and birch are doing its best to keep the house warm.

In the low 20's and that's awful cold for here. Before bed and before I leave for work I've been stuffing my little insert with birch. Right now I have some maple and hemlock going...waiting for it to burn down before I pack it full of birch and go to bed.

17° and about 4" of new white crap. My boiler is going through wood faster than a wino goes through booze, but it's warm in here and the water is hot, I can get more wood if I need it.

4° here this white morning. Snow falling, 7" expected. Burning ash and birch in the oakleaf. Our highs should reach 28° today!

It's 16 this morning and 71 up here. I ran the pellet stove last night so I could take the ashes out of the wood stove this morning.

I don't think we received much snow overnight.

17 deg. here now and snowing, 5 to 8" I've been told, then possibly mixing rain at the end. Why can't it just stay light and fluffy. Oh, and as it is right now, it's "squeaky snow".

Just loaded up with maple splits. Burning pretty aggressive to keep it 70, but the oil hasn't kicked on yet. Calling for .30 of ice coverage.

Supposed to get to 12° here tonight. Lowest temp of the year and I get to find out how well the stove works.

5" of snow and now it's sleeting. 28° and we will probably have freezing rain on the road as the air temp warms up. Not a fun day to be out there. Got a load of crabapple, maple and a cookie of unknown species.

Looking at -33 C (-27 F) and dead calm out there for once. Took out my ash bucket wearing long johns and a house coat and it didn't feel so bad considering. Did I mention I hate wind?
