It was about 36 this morning, we never had a fire overnight or this morning.

Monday it's supposed to be cold and windy down this end of the state. Might actually be able to burn all day and night.

Currently it -3 c out and light snowfall, the ground is white (barely). I was burning spruce last night and then started an overnight load around 12 of larch. It was still coaling at 10:30 so we added some more larch on. Not a full load as we would cook out our 2600 sq ft house.

    How long is a string?:D

Kidding aside, it all depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. In moderate weather I short cycle a lot of the time (less wood, more air, hot fire, short burn time)and might load it, and be back in there in a couple hours.

For a go to bed load, I try to fill the box best I can, get the air turned down asap, and best case scenario, in 6 hours the side of stove is too warm to hold your hand on. That might be 150-175 F? I had a sleep in today and the stove was only somewhat warmish 8 hours later (like a coffee cup after 10 minutes), but I stirred the coals and brought it back to life in short order with shed floor garbage.

The stove is only 1 cubic foot...but very efficient.

Snowed a good chunk of the day, but only about an inch on the ground.
Windy and nasty outside. Spent about an hour at SisIL's cutting down a tree, then came home......which is where I've been the rest of the day. Still here too.
    27 OAT right now.

We have between .8" and 10" of snow coming with temps between 26 and 35 depending on which weather forecast you like.. Loaded the boiler with a little pine and a lot of maple.. Don't want to have to rush out in the snow if it comes, so the maple should take me well into the morning when I can refill at my Sunday leisure and get it on with the painting if this nursery.. Laid down a primer coat tonight, so tomorrow is time for finish paint and furniture assembly. No working on wood, already promised the wife. :)

44 here and raining, the house is balmy 60, sweater weather. So no fire this AM or oil furnace bump on for a quick warm up.

31º outside this morning, 72º in, heading out to set up chairs for church (we meet at the high school, outgrew the church). Burning down coals from a sugar maple/oak fire. I'll come back to pickup my bride and load the stove.

Woke to the sound of the furnace this morning. Ran down to see the outside temp was 32° And there was snow on the ground. Shut down the furnace and started a maple fire. Beginning to warm up the house.
