Colder weather starts here tomorrow. High of 65°. Still not gonna get down to freezing just yet. Trying to close the pool tomorrow. It was too dang hot to even think of closing it this week.

It's been so warm I was tempted to go in, but the water was toooo cold. I just wanna get it closed and done with. I was waiting for that cold day and tomorrow's it! Then some wood can be split.

Hope you made it home alright. The first few snow falls are the ones to watch out for. Lots of people dragging their buts on putting winter tires on. What elevation was that at? Did it accumulate?

I remember being near Monarch Pass in early October a few years ago. It really put it down that evening and they closed the road until morning.
    BTW....It's still 70 here :D

Made it home in fine shape, actually faster than the last couple of nights (road construction with traffic flow controls/ semi truck on fire last night from hot brakes).
Shop is around 8900, home is 8200, but I have to climb to over 11K both ways. The roads are still too warm for it to stick, just major water and hydroplaning for most. Snow was sticking on the west side about 9.5K, but it'll be gone by Monday. East side was mostly rain. House was clear.
So- in 32 miles I went from snow, to rain, to clear and pleasant. Gotta love the mountains.
Oh yeah, I run studded snows year round. They're great for days like today, shedding water in the grooves on the highway.
BTW- 3 small pine rounds and 2 Aspen rounds in the stove currently, I'm good tonight.

Glad to hear. I run all weather tires all year round but I havent been liking how fast the tread wears even with off road heavy duty tires for my truck. Those are some high elevations you have there. I dont think we have trees above 7500 ft and thats on the southern slopes. Heck Mnt Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies and its at 12,000 some odd feet with lots of ice. If youre into gardening do you know what zone you are? We are a 3.5 here at 3800 ft. Either way no matter where you live in the lower 48 youre going to get pretty long winters if youre dealing with that kind of elevation.
For me Im currently on my second load of the night with one doug fir split as well as a lodgepole pine, and a small balsam fir.

48 deg. this morning when I got home from work, busted the windows open to let that cool fresh air in the house. We had way to many days of 90's in NH this summer for our liking. We just want some seasonal weather. 48 is still warm for an overnight low this time of year, but we'll take it.
