LOL I think it is even cooler, no pun intended, to walk it at night. Cold, dark, misty. But they have lights along the trail. Old fashioned looking ones that give it a really cool look at night. Tuff to explain though. And when it is cold, no one is out there but me. Just the way I like it.
I remember watching this game in Ottawa, we were staying at Chimo's. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...-hell-froze-super-bowl-line-article-1.1566343
6º and heading due south........burning cherry right now because I got home late this evening so I needed something I could chew through. Gonna load it premium stove chow soon.
I'm not liking you right now Jack. It's really friggin cold here right now. I went down to camp tonight to clean the Pellet stove and moved more wood in today and cleaned the ............................... and ..................... This is what I will feel like at 5:00 tomorrow.
A regular temp of - 20, it's going to be a nasty two days. Burning a quick hot fire in the Liberty, the pellet stove is burning in the opposite corner.
My oil boiler turned on this morning. Turned out I had a slot or two plugged in the nozzle of the boiler. And the coal bed had gotten too thick. Took care of that and a while later it did not need to run anymore. When it is this cold the wood boiler needs to have real good gasification so it can keep up with all the demand. Stay warm up there woodlands. Sounds like you might be even colder than we are. Schools will probably be delayed again tomorrow.
It's always something when you own a house. It's winters like this that make you wonder why you live in Northern NY.
I am expecting -1 tonight, with wind chill in the -10 to -20 range. I am burning oak and pushing the stove hard. Even with the stove hot, the electric heaters are on in every room except the one with the stove.
Happy with my boiler. It heated this big house and my garage to 45° for 7 hours. I'm going back to bed.
Kids school just went from 2 hour delay to closed. They will be happy when they get up! Wood boiler is chewing through a lot of White Ash! Oil boiler kicked on earlier. Wood boiler having a tough time keeping up.
I hear ya on that! I went down to the camp last night and turned the Pellet stove off and waited for it to cool down so I could clean it. Fired it back up and turned it up a notch and then came back home. I always turn the power to the well pump off at the breaker box. Just in case something froze.
Before I hit the sack last night, I had the basement at 83, that's with the Liberty with a load of Beech & Sugar and the Pellet Stove set on manual feed, I woke up this morning and the basement temp was at 82 and the upstairs at 68, outside the regular temp was - 28.5, we'll take it. We have another round with Mother Nature today & tonight, the combination of the two stoves in the basement work great. Gasifier, I heard you were colder than Massena, congrats! This weekend (starting on Friday) sounds like it could be nasty with some strong winds with snow.
Ummm. Thanks? I don't even know how cold it really got! My thermometer on the back porch said it was -25. My weather station said it was -21, and the sensor for that is about 10' from the other thermometer on the back porch. (I need to move that thing.) I think I saw on one of the TV stations at about 4:45 that it said -27. (Or was it -22?) But I think my eyes were still shut at the time I was making my way down to the boiler. (I also saw Squatch out the window.) So not sure on that. The boiler is catching up right now. I have two zones turned down a bit and it has warmed up outside! The weather station says it is -1 out right now. Boiler is warmed up to 185 and hopefully will be 190 soon. The big tank is at 175 and hopefully the boiler can get it back up to 185 at least. If it can I will heat the basement up as high as I can get it tonight! I am trying different things in this cold weather. Usually I would heat the basement up and use it like a storage tank on top of my storage tank. But lately I have been leaving the basement zone down on 60 so it never calls for heat. Radiant off the boiler keeps it around 70. But then the next level calls for heat more often. Time to try the basement storage tank tonight. This zone is the absolute shortest distance from the boiler. So probably easier for it to heat that zone more efficiently. We will see. I wish I had some higher BTU wood like nice dry Oak, or that Orange stuff? Somethin. Gonna have to look into something for next January/February. Sorry about the novel guys. Just talkin to myself out loud.
