The temps dropped to 37 with a strong wind, I think it stopped raining. Gasifier, here's the article on the closure of the bridge. http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20140111/NEWS09/701129933
We had thunderstorms today. Went out to get wood around 8pm and the sky was lighting up off on the distance. Early afternoon I heard the thunder and could see the lightning flash.
About 30° on the back porch here right now. The Wood Gun is processing some Ash and a little Maple. My parking lot and driveways are almost 100% clear. Suppose to go to 37 today and 45 on Monday. A nice relief. I really enjoy the winter, but when the temperatures get to where they were (-15), AND the WIND is blowing, AND there is ICE everywhere, there is not much you can do outside. Then it starts to get to be a little annoying. I think I may have been getting some cabin fever there for a while. Now I am starting to feel a little better. Got outside for a while yesterday and will be again today.
It's 32 degrees with some snow falling, the coffee tastes great in front of a nice cherry fire. I think today I'll take the chainsaw to some ice, maybe pictures later.
Sitting here about 50 degrees. Got a small load to take the cool out of the house. Going to try to clean the flue today.
32° this morning on the back porch. Wood Gun is munching on some Ash again, with a little maple mixed in. Boy are these temperatures a welcome break from that cold stretch! My parking area, driveways, sidewalks, and the roads are completely bare of ice and snow!
30º when I got home at 5:30 expecting mid teens tonight. The coffee tastes good and the Buck is munching on some ash, elm and cherry. Looking like 20º or so on Saturday and I am working on cutting or splitting one of the two. If anybody needs anything else the answer is NO !
We're still burning the Cherry, once the last week of January rolls around will get back to burning some Sugar Maple & Beech.
It looks like were heading in the chitter again with the temps, Tuesday we have a high of 2 with a realfeel of -18, that night we'll hit -13 with a realfeel of - 32. I guess some of that Sugar Maple & Beech will be coming in before that last week of January. We will be starting up that pellet stove again, with the Liberty filled with good hardwood it shoud be 70 in the upstairs livingroom.
Get your best wood ready. http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/polar-vortex-to-get-stronger-m/22148893
Heading for -1 with a wind chill in the -20's tonight, stove is packed with mostly White Ash right now.
Been nice twenty and thirty degree weather while it lasted. I have been slowly bringing in extra Ash for this coming week. I'm going to be busy, so I don't want to have to haul wood in in the early morning or late evening.
