Ended up with 2" more overnight. 22 now with overnight expected to be low teens...very low! 10 mph wind from the N NE today, should cool things a bit more.

29 OAT this am, so 4 med. splits went in.
70 IAT when I got up, and now 73-ish. Light snow dusting overnight.
Due for about 15 tonight, which means a decent overnighter.

We had 30 this morning so we had another Cherry fire, the next four nights will be colder so we'll mix in some Beech or Ironwood with the Cherry.

Got a fire going again. Supposed to drop to 28ºF tonight with a high of 40ºF tomorrow and even colder on Sunday. Then maybe some snow and possibly a Noreaster. May as well get everything nice and toasty warm in advance.

Fed the castine some small chunks of oak. Should be nice overnight with lows in the upper 20's. Much colder this weekend.

The overnight low dropped to 6. Lit off the basement stove with a blend of ash and maple. Tonight is supposed to be cooler also.

20 this am, with the sun out and our rooster crowing. No wind, and should hit about 35 today with sun, and a low of 13.
68 IAT at about 8:30, so I added 4 medium splits of Maple to a large bed of coals. Fire commenced within seconds, and we've had secondaries for several minutes.

We had 18 this morning, the 5 Ironwood rounds I added to the 4 Cherry splits last night did the trick.

Tonight will be around 18 again so I'll load up with Beech & Ironwood, that should move the needle on the thermometer real quick.

Just got back from a ride to the cottage and the road is melted enough where I can drive the truck down!
As long as I stay on the gravel, I'm good!

Heres the view from my dining room. The trees in the forefront are larch. They will be a beautiful light green as the new needles come in this spring.

Never got out of the 30's today......... Dawn washed the carpets with the rug doctor and I painted the hallway. Fire needed equally to dry things as well as keeping the place warm. Some snow overnight, low 20's- snow and rain tomorrow, so another fire in the a.m. poplar and oak mix.
