Had a fire last night and had to sleep with the covers off most of the night. No wood added to the fire this morning, came home to inside temps of 81.
Fire last night, no fire this morning, but house was chilly after work- rain all day, highs only in the low to mid 40s. Tossed in some oak, about 4 splits to keep the overnight cozy. Im hearing snow possible but didnt catch what day.......... thats after mulching crossed my brain
if this crazy rain and then sun keeps up I'll be mowing soon.....yuck I say, I got wood to split, heck with the mowing. I did get the oil changed in the splitter tonight.
A very mild day and then the wind picked up in earnest around noon. Supposed to get some snow starting tomorrow morning. Radio says 6-12 with more in the snow belt area.... Guess where I live? We'll see what happens by the time Thursday is over.
50 outside I thought I would try burning some Cottonwood, never burned any before. Put some hickory sticks on the bottom and then Small Cottonwood splits on top of that, Stove got choochin real good there, pipe was almost 900 for a minute, it's not lasting very long though, that's okay.
Think with the weather taking a turn back to winter I'll be lighting the kicker stove tomorrow! Maybe a pot of perked coffee? Chilli? Mmmmm.
41 this morning ,small ash fire that will be out by midday this week is cooler than the 60s last week
44 at 6:00 Thunder storms to the north of us. Pretty good light show before daylight. Kindling and a little coal will be enough to fend off the chill today.
Ha ha! Would've been nice but I'm going to wait for help before I attempt to get that into the basement. It is snowing like a screaming banshee right now! Big wet stuff that shoots to the ground like a missile! Wind is picking up, temps are dropping (I think we already hit our high for the day), radio and TV is pounding the storm warning drum. 33 right now. That's cold enough for a fire, right??
Been lighting a small fire all week just before bed. This keeps it warm overnight and comfortable in the morning. Daytime highs enough now that no fire needed during the day. Ran out of kindlin a month ago, so been scavenging twigs on a weekly basis which helps clean up the mess mother nature left behind.
Ended up with 7" since yesterday morning. Still snowing and will quit around evening today. Overnight temps will be dipping into the singles...maybe. It's in the mid 20's now. Lit off the el dorado, once again, in the basement. Almost 64 in the cave now-more to come! Maple and ash smaller 4" splits.
40. Some kindling and coal. Wicked bad winds kicked up about 5pm last nite for an hour. Then it cleared and cooled.Almost thought it was going to snow. Warmed back up overnite. Lost 2 big spruce that were visual barriers for my lower equipment yard. Sunny start to the day with cooling trend this afternoon. Next 5 days looks like 20-30's for highs.
Looks like the snow is over. All told, just a little less than 10". Just enough to make you shovel, dang!
