    Exactly.
Ma Nature isn't done yet. I'm cautiously optimistic, but plan to burn at least another 2 months.

Maine... 2001... March 31-April 1st... 24" of heavy wet snow. Like wet concrete. Would push my pickup sideways... could not steer back straight on level ground... yup... we aren't outa this yet...

Yup,,, our area is notorious for a St. Pattys day storm. I think it was around 91 or 92 we had the storm of the century right around St.Patys day. We got around 5' feet of snow in 36 hours. That was the only time in my life I remember being snow bound.

Even 99 steps up and offers caution to others when they start doing their "spring dance" by reminding them that some of our biggest storms have been in the second half of March.

Seems those are the ones that hit you hardest because you are lulled into a false sense of security!

It looks like 60s the rest of the week here. I will probably open up to air out the house.

Switched from red oak to white elm and had a small fire overnight keeping the house at 72°. No fire this morning. House was 73° when returning from work. Only suppose to go down to 54° tonight so may let the NG furnace take over for tonight:(.... hope it still works....

Will go back to evening/overnight fires with lows in the mid to upper 30s. Not quite ready to give up the relaxing flicker of flames and warmth just yet!:emb:

I remember that. That was the year I moved back to Wisconsin. I had to wait to get my ford mustang out of storage to drive it home.

35 F outside right now and I found a lonely split of poplar in my stacks from a few years ago so Im burning that and a stubby piece of pine. I was burning mostly doug fir through the day. I will still do an overnight burn I think.... after all I do have 2600 sq ft to heat. Its been a mild one this year but being in the mountains Ill still be burning some in May Im sure.

40 OAT again this am, and 70 IAT at 7:30.
Feels a little cool. Picked through the Oak stack in the shed and found a few small splits, so I think I'll light those up.
After yesterday morning's fire at just after 8 am, the house stayed no less than 70 until about 10:30 pm. Nice.
Supposed to hit upper 50s today, so I shouldn't need much heat.

48 this afternoon! The boiler has not run in a while. Two windows open in house letting some fresh air in. Feels great! The melting/dripping sounds great!
