9 Scheduled for 3-5 overnite but it was a no show. I'll take a winter like this every year. Leftovers heating things up.
Thank you very much HDRock ! It's been a long road with many surgeries since June, hopefully I won't need more surgeries down the road. I have about another 4 months of chemotherapy and I'm on my way to recovery! I've lost 43 lbs so I'm not in firewood shape if you know what I mean. But the past 4 days I have felt really well, starting to get some strength back and feeling like my old self. I'm hoping to be cutting and splitting by July or August, and then I'll be a happy man once again! :stacke:
Dylskee, Thoughts and prayers are with you. Went through this for a year with my son-in-law (from Maui) 2008-2009...treatment in NYC, spent hours every day at the hospital with him while my daughter cared for the children...know how ultrasensitive you become to cold, along with all the other agony. You'll get through this. He is well, 7 years after finishing treatment. Keep your spirits up.
Forecast low -10 F. Accuweather still showing that as the forecast, and as the low overnight. Meanwhile, an hour after we are into brilliant sunshine, the temp is still -22 F. Of course, the only night all winter I did so, I fell asleep without loading the firebox. Had put three small splits in at 6 PM, planning to load up before hitting the sack. A tad chilly in here...only the dog is happy. I guess the upside is I saved a little firewood....
Thank you very much sherwood I appreciate that! Yes, its a long rough road and not only for me but family and friends who sacrifice their time to be with me and and bring me back and forth. I spent a lot of time in the hospital and I have two dogs that I love more than life at home so it was rough getting people to go to the house and take care of them. I was in Boston so it's a couple hour drive in traffic and i spent 2 weeks in the hospital and my family spent that time in a hotel across the street. I also had 3 more surgeries and week long stays in the hospital, so it has been rough on my poor wife! She has been by my side every second, every appointment, every surgery. She's also a Registered Nurse so that helps a lot! The hypersensitivity to cold is brutal, I have to walk around the house with gloves on its so bad! It affects the hands, feet and mouth so I have to drink everything warm. But again, it's all for the best! The chemo kicked the hell out of the tumor in my liver and shrunk it 2/3! So it really works well. The rest of my treatments are to kill the microscopic cells in my blood. Sorry for the long rant, I'm just so happy I'm feeling better and I will be done in a few months! Thank you for the success story as well, I needed that. All I see is the negative online and it's disheartening!
Wow, the great people on this forum never cease to amaze me! I mean it, that's incredibly nice and so thoughtful of you NH mountain man to offer to help a stranger! I can't tell you what that means to me, people like yourself are the reason people get well and then pay it forward! I thank you so much for your incredible offer but I will respectfully decline. I have two sons that would be offended if they didn't help me do it, and I'm really looking forward to doing it too! I had another member here offer his services as well, you guys are great and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I really do. You take care my friend!
