It is 30 degrees according to my thermometer on the back porch. Wood Gun is resting more at these temps and eating White Ash and White Pine.

The rain is coming down pretty hard and must be freezing on at this point. Trees are showing it a little, but not much yet. The kids have not waken up yet to find out they have a two hour delay of school so far!

I just heard the local weather lady out of Watertown say lake effect snow for the snow belt will start today and snow fall will continue steady all the way through Wednesday. They are talking 2 feet today for Tugg Hill and snow belt area, another 2 feet tomorrow, and then more on Wednesday. And she did just say it again. By late Wednesday the severe snow belt areas could get five feet by the time the snow stops! o_O

-4° her with a wind chill of -22°.

I have the bad habit of not taking the time to separate the splits so we are burning locust, oak, cherry, and ash at the house. I'm using some hedge also in the shop.

LOL....Got the small splits on to burn down some coals and got the house stove on to get me back to 69 degrees. LOL... I think I found my threshold for this stove and this house. Dont know how some of you guys do it. Stay warm guys...

About 7 1/2 hours the stove temp was still at about 325 degrees when I woke up. Which is too bad considering the "need requirements" at the time. Pretty much had all the hedge burnt up except three little blocks in the back of the stove which I'd consider a good complete burn.

It's wacky here. 51 now and forecast to be 7 tonight. Dense fog everywhere because there is snow on the ground. I'm letting the fire burn out so I can clean out the ashes before it gets cold tonight.

40f and raining hard. Melting ice off the trees. Hope they lift up before we go back into the deep freeze that is gripping the rest of you. I bet my yard will be thick ice by morning. I used to do a decent job of keeping the hot top cleared off,
but the constant cold, not going above freezing for weeks and the constant bashing of snow and ice have made for a hard pack that will be a long time melting.

It rained all night, what a mess, were sitting at 40, expected to go up an back down, can you say ICE!

Since the temp was going up last night we just ran the pellet stove, we'll start burning the Liberty later on.

So far the expected wind chill temps won't be that bad compared to what we went through a week ago.

    HDROCK,

That looks like a pretty good snow fall you got there. I am glad I do not live in the snow belt area off of the lake that is south and west of us. The Tug Hill area always gets a lot of snow. It was not to many years ago when a place called Pulaski, NY got 7 feet of snow in a matter of 3-4 days. Peoples roofs were collapsing. Here is an interesting story that the NY Times published years ago. Have a read of it when you get time.

I got the snow all cleaned up but now the dang wind is kicking up blowing it all over
Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 18 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph.

I'll get a chance to use some ashes with some sand on our driveway, it will be like a skating rink once it starts freezing.
