7 Oak ,maple, and coal. OccasionaLEE run into a piece of ash or cherry. We were forecast for 8-10" last nite. May have received 3" The dewfusses on TWC make me laugh. The towns they report the "snow devastation" from are all exits just off the interstate along the lake shore. If they came inland up on the plateau they'd really see some snow. A prolonged SW fetch will hammer the lakeshore but it doesn't happen very often. The plateau gets it no matter except for the occaisional E wind
BLASPHEMY!!! Actually we only paid $20 for the smoke dragon at an estate sale. Of course the stainless steel chimney was close to $700. But I'd rather use my wood than pay the electric company. Besides that, I like having it for power outages. Living out in no-mans land means we are at the end of the line for repairs. The longest was 4 days. Without power the blower on the FPI and my little system of fans won't run. That second stove is essential for keeping us warm when the power is out.
We had 1 this morning, just got back with the boss from town so we started our first fire since last night.
I'm having a heat wave! 12 right now. Sure felt good at work today. And then the sun came out! Almost looked like a spring day.
good evening gents! hope you guys are all warm from wood this cold night. same broken record story here, single digit temps overnight and burning maple and prolly a bag of pellets on the side. all's good
It's 12 degrees with it trending up, I'll be loading my gut with the last C.R.with a huge glass of milk @99lbs or Mrs. yooperdave .
Currently 18°F, with a steady 15mph wind gusting to 25 mph. Loaded the castine with oak & hickory. Expecting a slight warmup tomorrow to the freezing mark.
Were gone and had the stove going hard today. Got back at 630 and stove room was 73 and bedrooms 63 and 68. Running oak wide open with some small small sweet gum rounds and split of pine and now I'm sitting at 81 in stove room and 77 and 65 in halls outside rooms
26 right now. Loaded stove with some big white oak splits and a huge half round of black locust on the left. And split and filled in then cracks with smaller white oak.
10 Degrees here. I shut the stove down to much last night and there is still a bunch of wood to burn down. Guess my wife will be reloading in a few hours.
-5 this morning. Good thing is that it hadn't snowed much overnight. Zap, I mentioned the CR the other evening by inquiring just how difficult it is to make them from scratch. Talked about them for just a little while. Even with that baited hook, I never got a bite! Guess I'll be going back to the bakery I was at yesterday morning!
25 degrees right now with maple coals starting a maple fire. light snow falling , headed to shop this am, looking to have a good today.
14 when I got up. Always wait till storms are over to plow,,, radar looked good around 7 last nite so I plowed out the house drive, the shop and lower equipment yard. Not a flake of snow all nite. Nor'easter looks like it will just miss us. They usually do. Co-oak a coala in the fire beast!
6° this morning and house was still at 70° upstairs, 78° near the stove. Headed for 21° today so the woodpile will not be disappearing as fast as it did this past 4 days! Still have lows in the low teens for overnights. I'll keep burning the same old red oak!
