It's going to get warmer all night here. It's over freezing, and its supposed to get to 36 or so.

I let it go to coals today. The fan was off when I got home. I also cleaned as much ash as I could out of the stove and relit the fire. There were still a ton of coals going.

Beech and elm in the fire tonight.

It's 17 with the temp trending down, I loaded up the Liberty with six rounds of Ironwood and another five splits of Beech,Sugar Maple and some Yellow Birch.

Tomorrow high will be lucky to come close to 5. Sunday, we're back on the dark side. High of -6.
    And snow every day.

Ya. I suppose you could say that. And occasionally some Elm and Maple. I wish I had some Oak, Beech, etc. on my property. Oh well. It still keeps us warm.

36 right now (our high), and the coals from the 5 Maple splits I put in the stove at 8 am are still kickin' a little heat.
The house is 73, and holding with that outside temp.
    Getting a light rain too.
Should be a little colder after today for about a week.

We're at 32 today, it was 21 when we had coffee this morning, I took some ashes out and then I started a fire around 10.

We just dropped from 73 to 72 here at "desk thermometer central".
Still a few coals left from this morning, so maybe I should throw in a small split or 2 just to keep things nice.
    Any excuse for a fire.:D

50? Wow, we'd be knee deep in mud at that temp.
My smallish ice dams are melting somewhat nicely with our mid 30s.

We are knee deep in mud!! Pine pulpwood on my all weather tracts on sand land went for $18/ton where it usually is $12.

They just closed all 23 gates on the dam this week they had been open since new years eve! Lake was 6 foot over full at tops. This is an 80,000 acre lake . The second week of december we were 4 foot under full pool so the lake came up 9 foot! The last foot it went up was with all the gates rolled up a foot!!

Currently 12 here headed down to -4. Full load of oak with beautiful secondaries and stove top at 625. Will be a high of -1 tomorrow with a low of -18 tomorrow night. And a brisk -8 HIGH for sunday!! The old wood pile will take a hit these next few days. And add a north wind of 12-15 mph all weekend. I'll be nice and kozy inside all weekend. Although it would be nice to get out and get the saw running a bit!!

It's -31 C right now, supposed to be -41 C with the wind in the morning.

I'm running both the stove and the furnace...feels like my face is gonna melt. And you guessed it, poplar in the stove.
