-4 now with minus 22 windchill.Should drop another couple degrees by sunrise.Fire burned down overnight, some small split SYP 2 X 4 pieces & couple small white oak splits/chunks & its roaring again. Will be burning mostly 2 yr old White Oak today. I don't plan on being outside very much today.Even debating whether to go out for breakfast or fix something here...
Hmmm...there is a Git n Go just half block down from me.Never had their donuts though, that's not much more than a snack for me.
We have 42 this morning, just coals in the Liberty at the moment. Once we get our rain (.25 - .50 inches) it should be a mess out there. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON. * LOCATIONS...LAMOILLE AND ORLEANS COUNTIES IN VERMONT, AND THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS OF NEW YORK. * HAZARDS...STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS. * WINDS...SOUTHEAST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. * TIMING...THIS MORNING THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON. * IMPACTS...STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL LEAD TO DOWNED TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES PRODUCING SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.
Ouch - 50mph wind is seldom good. Burlington NWS says we have 1"-2" of rain in store today, but not that wind. We have 2-3" of a dense hard-packed snow cover now, so probably a nice icy mess when we get done. I brought in 2+ cord yesterday, and am ready for winter in that regard, but have not started skidding out the 2018-19 wood yet. I'd rather ice than 20" of powder at this point, to make the walking easier while felling.
-9 here and will go lower as the sun comes up. I feel for you guys with the 50 mph wind. Hopefully it doesn't get any colder and start freezing.
45F right now. Going up to 56F this afternoon. I threw a couple ash splits in there just to keep a bed of coals.
26 and snowing; gusts to 35 mph. Forecast high over next 15 days is 32 on one of those days. Looks like winter is here. Burning 3 cherry and 1 elm split - 69 inside.
26 degrees, going up to high 30's today, then colder tonight. prolly gonna burn some maple today and pellets tonight. thinking about steaks on a charcoal grill with hickory bark for flavor. mmmm. need to head to the shop for a while, can always pass some time there.
-33 wind chill now, burning some red elm and white ash, should move some snow today, love Iowa winters.
Been snowing since about 9 last night and we got about another 3-4". OAT was 21 when I got up (late for me) at almost 9am. 66 in here, but it didn't feel quite that cool. Pulled the coals up and dropped one med. Maple split e/w on those and got the temp back up to 70 within an hour. Amazing stuff. High should only be about 23 and dropping all day. Quite breezy out there too. Just loaded 6 Maple splits for most of the day. Should be gooder 'til at least dinner time.
37 Stick of coal and some coal. Don't need much heat today. 24-30" of white chit forecast by Friday. Funwow !
It's 10 out now. That's supposed to be our high temp today. Hickory and American elm in the quadrafire.
Just came in from rakin' the snow off the roof. I gotta' say....that was way more fun than I was planning on having today. Prolly gonna' need it again tomorrow, with more snow in the forecast. We're down to 19 and moving down from there, so I guess we'll not make our forecast high of 23.
I set up a small desk fan 6" or so on low blowing air in from a non stove room. I'm going to see how this works. I'm sure it will. It's 11 out now, about to reload with hickory.
Bringing out the big guns tonight. Supposed to be 20 here. 3 year old white oak and hickory should keep us warm
