Last couple of days 4 to 5 degrees for the high headed back down. -10 to -15 for tonight.. Clear and cold.. No wind.. Stove is nice and toasty. Inside a pleasant 76. Sweet mix of lodge pole.
The temps sitting at 29 tonight, we'll be burning more Cherry for the overnight fire. Our first fire tomorrow morning will be about six good size Cherry splits but after that we'll be burning Ironwood for the colder weather coming in. Sunday Night A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around -6. Wind chill values as low as -15. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Monday Cloudy and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values as low as -23. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.
A short run of cold snap coming, might have to burn a little oak and locust.....we'll make it through one way or the other.
I think an agreement/argument should/could be made as long as you use correct burning practices and have minimal to no smoke they should leave you alone. Getting a fine because they saw your heat plume would be down right ridiculous! How do they decipher smoke vs steam like a gas furnace would produce? I say if they want to fine you, they have to climb their tukus up on your roof and put a meter to your chimney unless its blatantly black or yellowish smoke for longer than a set amount of time.
Another cold night for us, woke up this morning to -13F. Its already -5F tonight. I think Tundra gets to sleep in the house again tonight. Burning through the wood these days.
There is a HUGE problem with your post! You are trying to apply common sense to a government regulation! Such nonsense must stop!
28° cloudy and we are getting lake effect snow flurries now. Burning hickory, and a split of box elder in the quadrafire.
We had 30 this morning, we're just burning down coals from this mornings fire so I can take out some ashes before the colder weather moves. I think the next load will be some Beech on the bottom with some nice size Ironwood up top.
Single digits Mon/Tues night with daytime in the low to mid 20's. All oak and hickory lined up. Stay warm!
Man! Went outside to take down the decorations and it is snowing to beat the band. Must've just been a snow squall, but I bet the hour I was out there, I got 1 1/2 inches... Supposed to be in the very low 30's thu fri sat though.
We've dropped to 18 so far so I'm just burning down some Beech coals before loading up with Beech & Ironwood.
Still on my shoulder wood of silver maple. Down to 15 tonight and 10 tomorrow night. Have ash and oak but too lazy to get to it as its stacked behind the silver maple, never thought I would have any shoulder wood left by now. House is still nice and warm just have to reload more often and get up a bit earlier as I can't get 8 or 9 hours outta this stuff like I can with the denser woods.
Down to 13 here now. Ash and a little Elm and a few scoops of pellets in the boiler. Basement is charged up to 82! Nice! Thermostat turned back down to 60 down there. Time for bed.
It's 14 heading south so I made a nice little fire with some Beech, Ironwood and some Maple. It's holding at a stove top temp of 600.
14 this morning Last load of shoulder wood. Big gun will fire this afternoon. Thank god,,,,,, I'm tired of carrying wood in. It doesn't help my dad has been ill and I have to tend his OWB. Thing eats wood like cake!
