20º here this morning, burning down a big pile of coals for the next hour at least. Probably load a little less heavy after that. 40's and sunny expected today

It's 23 this morning with a couple of inches of the white stuff on the ground, more Cherry in the heater.

It looks like we'll get through December heating with just Cherry and three bags of pellets.

It was somewhere around upper teens last night. I burned coal. I am burning coal right now. House is 78. I have got to be careful as it is supposed to warm considerably into the 40's. And, if I don't watch, my house will be 90 by dark. Coal is one of things that gets hot and stays hot for a long time. It just pounds the heat if you let it. So, on days like this, you have got to keep it at bay while keeping it hot enough to burn efficiently. It isn't hard just requires getting it somewhat hot to bank down and let simmer. I chocked it off pretty good last night at 8 pm and rode it out until 9 this morning. Temp in the house was 72. But, the hour I gave it air and let it start to roll again has the house gaining temp right now even though it is banked off again. It'll run to about 80-82 and stabilize. I'll open the doors and get it down to 76 or so. Then I'll shut them and let it do it's thing all day. About dark, I get her ash free and load down with seasoned red oak and white oak for the night.

I love burning a wood for days like today. But, when the temps drop into the teens and I get my stove full of coal, I have a fire for 24 hours without ever adding more fuel. Tomorrow is heading into the 50's. It'll be a wood fire the rest of the week. As coal will simply be too hot. God Bless men

Ill get long burn times on coal as long as the thermostat calls for heat and kicks on the forced draft once every couple hours. Give that rock a little air and it makes heat. Shut the air down and it just glows till thermo calls for more air.

Ditto here, it was cold last night, but it's already 40 here. My bed of coals from shagbark hickory is burning down. I'll keep a fire going, but it's going to be probably box elder and pine.

It is bit coal. Some great stuff to. The company from where I buy it is selling the same stuff for met coal. It is low sulfur, doesn't smoke at all, burns much cleaner than wood, and is the BERRIES for these cold nights. You got to watch it though as it can get really HOT.

I have 520 Warm morning coal and wood burner. It has an 80-100 pound firebox. So, by the time I build her up with wood and throw a 5 gallon bucket on it, it is full. However, after a while and the wood burns out from under it, I tamp the coal down to the grate and top it off with another 5 gallon bucket. That is when burn time gets awesome. I fix it twice a day when cold outside. A 5 gallon bucket in the morning and one in the pm when I get home from work. And, it'll keep my 2400 square foot, double story home as warm as I let it. Sometimes warmer than I like due to having to get it hot before banking it down. I keep the bedroom door and floor vent shut because 80 degrees is not the best sleeping weather. I have vents cut throughout the floor to allow the heat to evenly disperse through the house from below. I love burning wood but, this coal is 'da bomb.

I bought this stove in NC. Off of a lady that husband had recently died. He had it in his work shop. All the bricks were good and the stove jacket was good as well. So, I went and got it. Two weeks later I found another in Blacksburg, VA on Craigslist and went and bought it as well. MINT. Less than $200 in both and fellas, the LOCKE stove company knew how to make stoves. I looked at some new offering but honestly, these thing are unbelievable. I still have my Buck just in case this administration gets what they want and shuts coal production down permanently. But, until they do, I never intend on going back to full time wood burning. My goodness it is nice.

    God Bless men
