Been high 30's all morning. Some oak lumber cutoffs and a big chunk of maple. The last week has had a severe dampness to the air. Bones have been aching. Stove has had a hard time drafting. A first for this unit. Had me wondering so I did an inspection . Clean as a whistle .
I can tell when the air is very humid and heavy with my stove too. Very slow to get rolling when there is rain or fog! 40 for a high today. Started at freezing. Same old Mix of smaller oak splits and larger boxelder. Gonna need the oak tonight and through the weekend lows in the low-mid teens highs low 20s. Down to 6 on friday night! Big old oak splits sitting there waiting.....
Ive been blessed to live in picturesque mountains most of my life. When people come to visit and see the scenery that I get to see everyday I often get the comment that I must get used to seeing it and therefore appreciate it less. Of course the answer is no. Beautiful scenery in all its seasonal changes is pleasing to the eye no matter how many times you gaze at it.
I understand that sentiment. When I need to get from A to B quickly, I don't pay attention to anything but the road. But when I'm doing most everything else, I often take a step back and look around. I smile a lot, and thank the good Lord I'm where I'm at. I really do that, sometimes out loud. I get funny looks at Wal-Mart on occasion.
22right now. I don't think its supposed to get much higher than that today. Singles tonight?? Probably!
Yeah. Might need to change the title of this thread to: "Warmer here-what's your temp and what ya burnin" Rainy and 48 right now. I have a low fire of ash and hemlock going just to keep the dampness at bay.
Cool day but the winds (nothing like Wyoming) dropped the temp even lower. Felt like single digits outside today. Gas piping and venting a temp furnace just wasn't fun.
Weather sitting at -14 C, going down to -24 feels like -32 C. So, about 8, -14, and -22 F to my southern neighbors. This will be the coldest night this year (but would be boring and normal any other year) so far, and yet it's supposed to let up in a few days. Burning the good old poplar, cause sadly, there are no stands of oak or any other awesome hardwoods growing here.
