We had a fire this morning in the Liberty, it's still 74 up here, 70 in the bedroom so we'll go without a fire tonight. The temp outside is 48.
Well, didn't light a fire before leaving for work this morning, house was still at 72 when I left. Came home and the terrible wind and 31 degrees had striped the heat right out of the house. It was down to 66 (NG furnace is set at 64 or 65). Got a fire lit, some elm uglies and boxelder uglies, now cruising at 600 stt. Should be warmed back up in an hour for when the wife and kids get home!
Ended up with about 4" of wet slushy stuff throughout the day. Plows were out; cars were in (the ditch). People will never learn, it seems. On one 3 mike stretch of road, there were three skid-outs. And let me tell you about shoveling that slop! It'll be better once the ground freezes and the snow doesn't contain all that water.
50 here going down to 42 for low. Just started a fire of mulberry and black cherry, already up 2 degrees to 71. End of the week looks good for 24/7 burning for a few days at least.
45 now, beech in the quad. House is a nice 70° in the back hall. I'm guessing 74 or so in the stove room. But see the temps later in the week? I have a feeling I'll get the stove a choochin' later this week.
Man many of you have such warm weather. I could see it being a nice break from the last few years and a nice opportunity to get ahead with your stacks. Im sure el nino will give me some warm weather but right now its 9 f. The stove is getting ready for a stuffing of larch and birch for my over nighter.
The colder weather (actually, it'll be back to seasonal normal) will be here on Friday for us. High will be 15. Tomorrow will be upper 30's and rain....probably get rid of the 4-5 inches of snow we ended up with yesterday. Upper 20's now.
We're at 45 degrees so we still don't have any type of fire going (the house is still 70) the wife is baking cookies so we'll get by with that heat until tonight or later this afternoon. I'm sure two degrees of that heat is from baking. I've been informed I have 36 cookies. Backwoods Savage
Highs are still near 60F here, haven't had a fire since the beginning of December and don't expect one anytime soon... Last year by now I had gone through a cord of good wood, this year I've only used shoulder wood and uglies so far. KaptJaq
No fire for two days, house got chilly overnight last night, so I put in some mixed species chunky monkeys, 43 outside, 75 in the house now, low 34 tonight, supposed to be 50 tomorrow
