29/68 starting out with ash and aspen to get things up and running, then I have some chestnut oak shorts staged up for the reload later this morning.

That's on the spill pan built on front of the stove.
If they were to magically fall off they land on the tile hearth.
    Non issue.
If I remember correct yo had a lot of issues with the way I do things last season.
    Still here and kicking friend

27/76 with a strong West wind. A couple pieces of elm, a Shagbark crotch, and a 2 inch thick Maple cutoff for the overnight.

Just trying to teach the importance of responsible and safe burning practices.

I hope it isn't a futile act due to stubbornness.

Sir, you have a wife and children that demand the utmost safety and protection from you in every aspect of life.

Ignoring hot coals (embers) because they are on a spill pan above a tiled floor is not a safe practice.

For example, way too many house fires have begun by ashes in a covered bucket.

Please use FHC to show you can burn responsibly and learn from the decades of my and other's experience.

Cherry is burning nice although leaving a few clinkers as usual. 28 degrees felt cold yesterday. I am not acclimated yet.

Just above freezing, and should warm up a few more degrees today. Very nice having above average temps, except it's a little too easy to blow the doors off from the heat!:DPoplar and pine making it too warm inside today.

At least I had one fire. . We are forecast to set record highs in the coming days. Mid 80's coming. Today we got up to 74.

Maybe you're right and nothing ever happens from it. But if something does the optics of it are terrible and borderline negligent. I have a high school friend who is currently in prison due to a home fire caused by something far less egregious. Guy is brilliant to basically a mini Elon Musk was a multimillionaire by his mid 30's and mostly retired. Even in middle school you could tell he was wired differently and was going places. Now hes locked up for at least a few years....

I'm confused how it's possible for a little tiny coal to catch a tile floor on fire

-6C/21F and warming up a few degrees past freezing. Another 7-10 days and normal winter will probably show up.

We’re topped out for the day at 45 here. The stove is chugging along with sassafras rounds and an aspen split on top.

I took this picture not too long after a reload but before choking the air down. I don't know about stove top temp, but the thermometer on the flue said 475.
