First steady rain in weeks. The last couple thunder storms either went to the north or south of me. It’s been so hot and dry that the birch tree leaves are turning yellow and dropping to the ground. This is a welcome change.

Around here it is normal for birch to start dropping leaf now. Cherry is too and that is normal.

49 and burning ugly, cookies, smalls and sawdust/chafe from the processor. It cool enough that the heat comes on but mostly for domestic hot water.

Edit: starting to see some popel and willow brush turning yellow. Here in Valdez it’s all green.

Seems odd to have all the windows closed to keep inside warm in August (beginning of yet) but here we are.
    Chilly feels pretty good.

    Maybe this post goes here:
I’ve been real overextended this summer and while I need to count my blessings, I’ve done a poor job of keeping that front of mind in the moment.
Got some wood delivered the other day, bought a new chain for the 170 and took the 271 in for a tune up and all that. Could I have done it myself? Probably but I made the decision to take it to the local power equipment store.
Probably unrealistic to get much done on this pile this week but I can dream.

Was 86ºF a few hours ago.
Skies are not blue even though there are no clouds and geez it smells like the woods are burning right down the street.
Forecast was for poor air quality today and it sure is.
    Tough to work outside.
