It's 64* in and 18* outside. Relit with Oak and some Red Maple. Oh, and it's snowing pretty good here, we picked up another 5 0r 6 inches yesterday. We'll hopefully get the same amount today.

Yeah there's going to be some cold days and nights this week, starting tonight.

I brought a sled load of wood up from the shed yesterday. I made sure to grab higher BTU wood as well as some fir to burn down the coal bed.

21/75 white oak. Im loving the white oak it sucks waiting for it to dry but it sure is nice when it is. Minimal ash, long even burn times, and holds coals forever. I forgot what member said "white oak always has my back" but its definitely true.

A balmy 8 degrees here. Brought in 4 loads yesterday including some 7 year old locust for overnights. Talking up to 4" snow again tomorrow and with any luck, I can get to my first job at 0530 before it starts.

Finally down to a reasonable temp to start a fire. Will start a quick, hot fire to get some heat back into the stove. Then a good load of oak will probably last till bedtime.

It's been 13 1/2 hours since last reload. Amazing what 4-5" of snow on the roof will do. That and the warmer temps outside. I saw 34° today with the sun shining. Got out and loaded the trailer with wood for the week. Went for a quick drive to blow the snow from the cars rooftop. Thought i was going to plow the 2-3" out there but by the time i got done using the leaf blower to clear walkways, it's snowing again. Supposed to get a couple. Will probably plow later.

23/69 elm and white oak. Just got back from a late lunch or early dinner. Plenty of coals and scooped out some ashes. Got to check a few trail cams, do a touch up with the plow, and reload a wood rack.

28F with off and on flurries. Tulip poplar and black cherry in the stove. I've got so much tulip poplar and have more trees that will come down in early spring. They're calling for another 2-3" of snow Tue night into Wed. Might need to get into the hickory stash by mid-week. PXL_20250216_212424994.jpg

We didn't even have to check trail cams today to see some wildlife, a flock of turkeys came and said hi, we watched them for quite a while this afternoon. They stuck around, I had some corn out for the deer but these guys ate it all. PXL_20250216_195958091.jpg

We havent had any turkeys come by lately but in the summer and fall we'll get them. The dogs go nuts. Its usually a bunch of hens but we did have 3 toms hanging around for about a week last June. They would even come in right up to the house and look in the windows LOL.

Dropping to 15 , and not getting much warmer than that the next fe2 days. Maple is at the top of the pile with a wee bit of oak for variety.

i awoke around 03:00 yesterday and it was wet out. When i wakened from second sleep it was 08:30 and snow blanketed everything. I believe it will remain snow covered for some time.

I covered the wood on the front porch yesterday and will be working off my SHTF pile in the attached garage until the wind gets back to a reasonable level.
