That is a possible derivation but there are several more at least that are plausible. Wikipedia list a couple more as do other sites. In any case, coarser individuals have taken the saying and run with it as you might expect. Probably the most common modern use in low society involves well endowed metal statues of monkeys. Of this I spoke. That is the rest of the story, buZZsaw BRAD, You can take the High Road or low road from here!:) Apparently I chose the low!

28* out overnight and 47* today. Somehow got into a vein of Cherry and Madrone in the woodshed. Where were you when it was much colder?

It was -18c/0f this morning with the usual larch/fir mix. Its warmed up to -8c/17f in the sun now. I hope to take the dog for a walk in the woods before the sun dips behind the mountain.

Ol mud season is knocking on our door. Temps didn't get below freezing last night and it was 40 and sunny all day today. Sure would be nice to not have multiple mud seasons this "spring."

Over the last few days we've finally been getting some winter, not so much the cold but the snow and ice. High of 33.8°F with an overnight low of 13.6°F. Getting ready to fire up the stove with Ponderosa pine and top it off with white oak for tonight. Some picks from Goldwater Lake, Arizona. Pretty. Does the ice ever get thick enough to ice fish? Ive seen some cold temps in some of the posts from members living in Arizona. I remember visiting Scottsdale at christmas a number of years ago and was chatting up a fisherman who was fishing a city pond. He was in a heavy jacket and a toque. The kids and I were in shorts and t shirts. He was an interesting fellow. He found it so alien that we walk, fish and drive on lakes in the winter.

    12. Feels like -1, according to weatherman. Going down to -1 by 7am. Loaded up the Wood Gun with a mix of the best hardwood I have. Elm, Hard Maple, and what looks like Beech?

Re-lit the fire @ about 6p. Evening fires are keeping us comfortable. I have 33 outside with wind chills at 20. Really been windy all day. 74 inside, burning 24" splits of chestnut oak.
Cleaned the glass before I lit up too.

Got real muddy here. Had to use the bobcat, but tried to minimize the messy tracks. Thankfully it isn’t as heavy as the newer/bigger machines, so it doesn’t make AS big of a mess.

The weather has been much warmer and we have been able to get some work done. The muddy shoes are about the biggest problem.

I'd never trust the ice to be thick enough in my area to walk out on. Generally, the daily temperature goes above 32°f or 0°c. People in the desert are also typically used to their climate and anything below 80°f seems cold to them. So, they put on heavy coats when it's 60°f out. The word "interesting" is a good description for many people living down in the valley. lol
