100km/hr winds here, makes things chilly, not touching the woodpile today. Yellow Birch in the stove.
Nord its amazing how the wind strips heat from a house. Those winds you are experiencing are no joke! -19c/-2f in our part of the Rockies this morning. Clear skies and thankfully no wind! Doug fir in the stove keeping the chill away.
The winds grew stronger but not what Backwoods Savage or Nord are having. Thank goodness! Hope there's none of these near you guys!
Hmmmm. Interesting. Iv never heard that expression. 33/67. Ash and red oak are the headliners in tonight’s stove.
Fortunately the temps are around 31. Winds are nasty….. Using a mix of hardwood I came into under the porch. Small rounds of Hard Maple. Medium size Elm splits, and a few large Beech splits. It is going down to 6 degrees by 8am. I have some very large “all nighter” Ash splits for the overnight.
32/77 elm and white oak burning. Swept the pipe today wayyyy more creosote than usual. Im thinking that Rutland powder I picked up loosened much more than what normally comes out.
Pretty warm today, but really windy. 45 mph gusts. 28° at 10:39 pm, ash and Norway maple in the quadrafire. 70° inside. About to rechooch due overnight. Probably more of the same. Ash and Norway maple, and maybe a piece of honey locust.
31/72 very windy and the barometer is way low. Temp supposed to be in the teens by 10am. Lumber cutoffs and skinnies.
Should get to upper 50's today, so no fire. Need to look the stove over tonight as I fell asleep after loading it last night and had the thermometers pegged before shutting it down. Opps.
I did something similar. Fortunately my wife smelled hot before we got to the pegged stage. Wind and barometer must have been just right because it never takes off as fast as it did.
