28 and first snow of the season. May make it to mid-30's before the cold settles in for the extended future. I'd be fine if this is the last snow of the season and it stays warm enough to just rain. Locust and elm in the IS.
33 with light snow flurries coming down. This cooler air mass is a welcome relief after several days of rain/damp. Burning another mixed load of cherry, white oak and aspen.
22F at 8:00 am and a really pretty hoarfrost. mix of BL, ash and elm by the stove. Maybe some hackberry in there too.
37* last night 45* today. House is toasty with Doug Fir and Fir bark in the Country T Top. Still have occasional Madrone and Cherry splits rolling out of the woodshed. Been working on another barrel tent stove so it feels good to come into a warm house from a cold shop!
40, sunshine for a change, and lots of mud. Boiler is working on some hackberry and walnut. The mixed bag pile is about gone and it's probably going to be ash for the rest of the burning season. Looks like we are supposed to get hit with a big snow this weekend. I'll believe it when I see it.
Mid thirties. I loaded a feral split pile in the woods and brought t to the boiler. It’s a hickory night. Also brought some well seasoned firewood for our fireplace that is just for looking at, to be able to watch a fire as the predicted blizzard of all blizzards consumes our house this weekend.
Cant upload a pic at the moment . The mercury read -50°F and the laser temperature gun reads -50.2 Dry White Spruce , split short butt's and fire killed but not Dry white birch in the stove . Inside temp is 74°
I need to make a 5 gal propane tank woodstove for my Well House . As we live off grid, pumping water for our weekly needs requires starting the big Firman (Costco) generator to start and run the well pump . Was 38 below ambient when I got up this morning. With a daytime high of 37 below. I had to dig the drift out around the well house so I could wrassel and pull the generator over to the plowed driveway and up into the house . Park it by the woodstove so it could warm up for a couple hours . Then start it. Take it outside and restart it . Let it warm up . Shut it down and push/pull it back to the well house . Fire it up plug in the pump and pump a weeks worth of water. The well house is enclosed and insulated to R15. So it will hold sufficient heat . And it's a 5.5'x9' inside building . A small woodstove will be perfect. Build a fire a few hours before time to start . And it should start very easily. And I have several.outdated tanks . I can use 2 of them to make 1 woodstove.
Hey Rope , how ya doing ? Some friends in Dot said it was -50 ambient this afternoon. It's-50 now at our place in the Barley Project . I imagine it's probably -60 in Tok by now .
