Supposed to be in the 40’s today. We have been burning a mix of oak, maple, and elm. We will probably be burning siberian elm this weekend and doug fir scraps. Just got home with a nice pile of doug fir. The truck was full. 62,020 lbs of wood, according to the scale I’m pretty happy!
24/60 thankfully alot of coals left. Woke up to the strange sound of the furnace running cant have that. Cherry and red maple going now.
I didn't know that douglas fir was native to wis. I thought of it as being a "western species". Too bad about the red fox......poor little fella! How's the fishing?
It hovered around 30° last night. Warmest it's been in a few days. Now it's 33° out. It's supposed to get in the 40's today. Ash, fir, and box elder in the quadrafire. Warming up in the stove room again after letting it burn coals down all last night and not reloading until 8 this am. 69 in the stove room and slowly warming up. The new DC blower for the quadrafire arrives today. I was using a small fan to attempt to get heat circulated from the quadrafire insert. It helped a little bit nothing like a proper blower that sits under the stove and really pumps the heat out.
If it fits it ships. The high BTU stuff I definitely make fit in the stove. There's no evidence after it's turned into ashes and BTU's
Cold enough outside that I had to keep the beer inside rather than on the back porch. Still burning off some of the odds and ends left over from last year and a good mix of the wood bricks I evangelize about so often. 72 in the house and outside will stay in the 30's getting no higher and going no lower through the day and night.
37/75. Heatwave here. Took the opportunity to load up wood cave #1, s&s'd some oak out back in the long term parking, and even vacuumed out the log trash from the wood hauler van.
Mild here tonight only gets down to 37. I scrounge a lot of limb wood to so I figured I'd try something new and do a full load of unsplit limbs. Bradford pear ash and maple
