Down to 50s and 40s at night but house still holding 70. Couldn't take it any longer so I've started burning a giant stump out of my yard. It is good and hollowed out now so it makes a natural fire pit. I'm burning dropped limbs and stuff I want rid of. Sitting out there with clear skies and a beer isn't a bad way to spend the evening.

Hi ya'll it's 26 degrees here now. I regasketed the doors on the stove last night and am about to light the first fire, it's about time. For you guys down south that are wondering boy 26 deg. is cold why wait so long to light a fire. Up here the kids are still going out to the bus in shorts (my kid yesterday).

I'll be gone part of the day, so I'm thinking of doing a Pine fire soon, even though it's 50 out right now.
    Rainy, and it feels cooler.
    Yep, gonna' do it.

Started the OWB on September 26th. Been burning spruce, pine, white birch & poplar since that day. It's been in the 20's at night for the last two weeks or so. Toasty 72 inside!

Been burning up some uglies and cottonwood/boxelder mix. I tend to scrounge around a half to 2/3 of a cord just for this time of year and spring. Been doing a fire about every other night here with an occasional small morning reload. Highs in the low to mid 50s and lows 35-40. Warms the house to 74-75 and holds the heat 2 days. Rinse and repeat when inside temp drops to 67ish. I prefer 24/7 burning, the re-lights get to be annoying after awhile! But either way the heat feels great!

Wow insulation sounds amazing!! At those temps I would need something every day even if its just a super slow burn in the cat stove. I can get 24+ hours of heat on a full box of oak set low n slow in the high valley 2500

Yeah, we have been 40 to 50ish, days and to 20 at night just burning popular and apple uglies start fire at night heat house up let it burn out over day and relight. Once Woodstove is on wife and daughter complain when house goes below 75:whistle: Even if they go outside in shorts and flip flops to do something. that's fine
