Another fire in the stove but it looks to be the last one for a while.

    Was 50ºF outside at 6AM. 58ºF now at 8AM
66ºF inside . I suppose I should have closed the windows, but it actually feels pretty good.
Repeat the cooler weather tonight then it warms up just a little.

Friend visiting from Arizona. She had to go stand out in the light rain we had last night. Weirdo. :)

Before day break I had 48*. I should have left the windows open downstairs. Going high of 70 today, then slight warm up. Each day a little closer to first fire.

Warmed up here as it is in the 50's now. Warm spell means no burning for the next week.

The furnace has been coming on the last few weeks in the morning but I didnt have the urge to have the first fire of the season until last night. I dont think we got above 55f all day. The house had the first burn of the season smell last night. Loved it! I woke up to coals this morning so thought why not, so I threw a few splits of doug fir in the stove. 9c/48f under low cloud and showers this morning. Ive been itching to go drop a smallish dead doug fir and a broken off larch that has been dead for at least 2 years but not sure I want to go out in the rain. We will see. I guess I could sharpen the chain to get ready if it dries out a bit. Both trees are a 5 minute drive from my house. I walk the dog by them both regularly so they are taunting me.

It looks like we are at least a couple weeks away from anything more than a lumber cutoffs small fire now and then. I am so looking forward to the season.
