Didn't make it out of the 40's today. Tomorrow 60's but that's it for awhile. Overnights range from 20's to just into the 40's. S word predicted for Friday.
No fire yet but maybe by Saturday when they are talking about getting down into the 20's. It has been a long time since going this late into the season for the first fire. Not complaining at all. Replaced an 8 foot patio door in the dining room couple weeks ago so it should be interesting to see what difference it makes in heating this year. Old door was over 40 years old.
I had one small fire weekend before last because it had rained for a week straight and I just couldn't take it. Needed something to cheer up. Had to keep the door open to keep the temperature reasonable. We are still reaching mid 70's in the day, some days low 80's. Night is in the 50's with high 30's predicted for later this week. House is too efficient to need any heat yet- still holding 73 inside. I'm hoping to be able to justify a fire by early November.
Expecting frost this Sunday morning and 60's in the afternoon. Looks like I'll be picking persimmons Sunday afternoon. May need a little fire Sunday morning to knock off the chill.
Forecast was 37, and I awoke to 34. I followed my gut and made a fire last evening, then added some more before bed. Wasn't much, but it kept the house from being too chilly this morning. 66 in the kitchen though, so I lit one up. Secondaries are cruising along. We probably don't need this much heat, but FIL should appreciate it. High of 55 today.....we'll see. A couple days ago we had the S word in the forecast for Friday night, but now it's gone. The temp for Fri. night has fluctuated up and down by about 10 deg. too. It's coming.
No fire for a couple days , 50 last night, house got down to 64, burned some oak, hickory n pine chunks
Cherry, tulip and maybe red maple tonight. It's only going to be in the low forties and that's really all I have. Saving the black birch for real winter.
The basement was 64 and the temp up here is 66 so I touched off a nice Pine fire. We might get 1-3 inches of snow on Saturday.
