30's and up to 40's a few days, more more of the same predicted  And low wind :thumbs: Mud is bad, easy compromise to cold freezing wind any day of the week.

    30. Just added a mix of White Pine and hard Maple. High today is suppose to be 36.

I do not believe I have ever seen this mild of a winter, temperature wise.

I don't care where you live, single digit temperatures are cold! I've lived north and south and found that single digits, above or below zero are cold.

I'm betting it seems nice to you to burn that little amount of wood compared whit before you bought that new stove!

That doesn't sound bad. When you say you let the stove burn out, what does that mean? I clean the ashes out when there is still plenty of heat and hot coals in there. Just shove the hot coals to front or back (for side loading stove), clean ashes then move them again to complete. It is also good practice to leave some ash in the bottom of the stove.

Dennis, 1988 month of December, didn’t get above 0
As a high temperature for the month.

Most winters a week or two of negative 10 or so
No ice fishing this year cause Ice not thick enough to hold a shanty

But yes 5 degrees is cold but not painful cold
25 below walking to garage, the bones in your face hurt cold

Being an old Yooper you need not explain what those temps feel like. I'll never forget one day when it took half the day to raise to a milder -40!

39/70. Lots of rain overnight. Standing water in my "yard". Mud season will be/is off the charts this year.

Right? We've got February yet, and those early March days that used to be the beginning of spring will probably look more like winter.

35° out. Elm and Norway maple in the stove coals from this am.

I emptied out ashes yesterday afternoon. I'm good for a couple weeks again now.

Fir and ash in the quad now. 71°, it was time to reload.

Winter has seemed like it was a Month late for years. March and April are not usually nice.

I recall many years in March when I be was getting on the motorcycle to ride. I don't go out "early" either, I wait until all snow is melted, no chance of freezing and all salt and grit washed off the roads. April would certainly be full motorcycling weather.

The last couple of years it has not been that way at all. Winter and crap weather drags on it's the newer normal.

I think the entire calendar has shifted by about a month. When I was growing up June was hot and September was chilly. Now it usually doesn't get hot until July and September is really nice.

Walking into severely abnormal weather up here, sitting a few degrees below freezing:DThat's almost 3 months of official winter down the drain, but winter always comes back with a vengeance. But still, 80 days from now mother nature shouldn't have anything of note to throw this way.

Finally getting chilly in my area. Should’ve been this cold for awhile but the weather is all messed up. Low of -22f tonight. With the wind chill factor it’ll be -50.8f. The BK Princess is doing its job. Pretty amazing, am very happy with the stove.
