Been out working in the cold all day and will be tomm too. Got cherry splits and some small oak rounds in the quad.

 

Right now, 29/75. Brought in some of the hardwood stash for the night, a lot to be said for waking up to a warm house.

Poor attempt at Tetris after I got home this morning, but these are 28”

Currently 21 here. I'm burning some wood from a neighbor's tree (former neighbor as we moved and of course I moved my wood piles too) That I cut down May 2020. A different neighbor told me it was a Russian Tea Leaf tree. All I know is it is dry and burns well. Travis Industries fireplace insert. Furnace has not run since shortly after starting fire.

 

Got up to about 30 degrees with 10 MPH breeze. Got the inside rack filled plus a wheelbarrow load in the garage. Just mixed, silver maple, ash, others in the IS. House is at 70 degrees with furnace set at 67.

They are both great! They are different though.

The Jotul F500 is massive. I can put a 24” long split or round in it. Sometimes I’ll throw a 24” long - 10” diameter round in it before bed and that sucker will burn all night long. My only complaint is that the stove takes a lot of wood and time to really get hot. It’s so big though, that it will heat my entire house, once I get it cranking.

The Lopi has a dual (front and rear) damper. So you can turn the air flow up or down as much as you’d like. I keep the airflow pretty high, so it warms up quick and burns really hot. The Lopi is in my home gym. The home gym is a separate building on my property. It gets really cold in there, so I like to open up both dampers on the Lopi and get that thing really cooking to warm the place up. It does a great job at heating the whole building quickly. It’s just not as big as the Jotul, so I have to feed it more.

Looks like Mulberry good stuff. Just be careful with it in an open fire as it can spark alot.

 

Don't worry I only use it in the insert. It doesn't seem to spark much in it though. I think you are correct as I cut another "tree" down for son #1's friend that she said was Mulberry and they do seem either the same or similar. It does make nice heat.

Just got home from work. It’s 29 and the house is 68 just thru some ash and locust for the night

 

One year. I pretty much let everything season for a year.

 

I think this is the coldest Night we have had here this year 19 degrees at midnight, stove is Choochin loaded up for the night

17/75 cherry and small white oak rounds. By far the coldest night weve had so far. I had to go outside and grab all the energy drinks out of my truck for fear theyd explode.

 

I've seen a lot of predictions about warmer than normal temperatures in Michigan this winter and less than average snowfall but this doesn't seem like warmer than normal
