Finally broke into the 40's overnight. Distinctly cool. Wiff ran the furnace briefly for the first time. Couple three weeks from first stove fire! Will fire up the fire ring next week.
It's been in the mid-50's each morning, windows open overnight. I've been burning small fires each morning this week, in the wood stove. Mixed chunks.
51 overnight. Already hit 80 for the days high. Getting cloudy now for the T-storm chance to come true.
Lots of rain and wind coming our way tomorrow. Calling for a high of 61. Rain, wind, and cool temps may lead to the first fire.
62 now. Rain moved in during the early morning hours and plans to stay all day with more through Tue. Well, it's fall.
It rained off and on overnight and rained hard this morning. We got 1.33 inches. It did chase me in this morning when I was out doing a bit of cutting. It is helping to settle the ground that was dug up for my new septic system. We had 8 turkeys taking a stroll thru the yard before the rain.
We’ve seen 5 frosts so far. Nothing below 32. Lots of upper 30s. Build a fire yesterday for the first time this year, I like to get up early before the rest of the family and get that thing going good. My youngins love to sit on the hearth when they first wake up.
Dropped to 46 now and started raining around 15:00. Started a fire more to get the dust burnt off and moisture out of the fire brick for the season. Nice to do that when you can have the windows open. By morning it’ll be a fire to chase off the damp chill for the first time this season. About time, I’ll be thinking that when it’s over 7 or 8 months too. Owl
Cool evenings and mornings but no need for the boiler. I may fire it up earlier this Fall, since I am retired. Got to get back to cleaning the harvest and can spend time throwing all kinds of brush in the bin. Night temps are high fifties Not quite there…..
60 here. Rain and wind yesterday, looking like more of the same today. I noticed the apple orchards around here have a bumper crop. Young trees have limbs pulled to the ground. More droppings that I’ve ever seen.
We had our first fire outside last night since the spring (fire bans) and then we fired up the wood stove for the first time as well. It was nice to sit by the wood stove and chase the chill out of the house. We were sitting at 8c/46f. Its the same temp this morning with rain and low cloud. Snowing in the high alpine no doubt.
It is a very pleasant 19c/64f here in the Canadian foothills. Looks like it will stay pleasant all week so still no need for the first fire.
