Only dipped into the upper 20's last night-but I'm not disappointed!

Calling for 33 tonight, possible frost. It is windy and cold,a nd I have a small fire going: a beech noodle, a two inch ironwood and a two inch maple branch, and some smaller stuff. That should take the chill off the air. I don't expect to add to that once it dies down, but who knows.....

Hope the fruit trees are OK. At least this afternoon there were no mosquitoes. They have been fierce.

I got told today that if you eat/drink a teaspoonful of cider vinegar before going outside, then the mosquitoes will stay away from you. I am going to try....

32 here. The small fire got the home comfortable. I should go out and split some wood while it is cold and the mosquitoes should be inactive....

Stove will lift off after I get the kids showered and to bed. 48* outside right now with lows around 40* for tonight, inside temp is a chilly 65*. During the heart of the burning season I would've never tolerated inside temps this cold, I was outside working in the garage today so it doesn't seem too chilly.(yet)

I can't recall the last time I had a fire this late in the season. :hair:

Freeze warnings out for tonight-again. Perhaps I shut the OWB down just a tad bit too early?

I'm heading down to fire up the Liberty with some Cherry with a few rounds of Ironwood, that's what we have inside.

Burning season ended here about 2 weeks ago now. A month early this year. Burns had been intermittent as needed a few days a week from about mid April. The rains have stopped a month early this year here as well. The snow has already melted in much of the Cascade Range as well as the Sierras now. Not good for summer water demand, especially in California. Fire season is gonna be a bytche this year here as well.

    Frightening situation, StihlHead.

Fortunately, we're in the midst of a good, soaking rain. We needed it....the garden was bone dry down twelve inches. Despite regular watering. It has not only been very dry, but also very windy. Seeds planted as long as five weeks ago are popping their heads up today.

We have highs in the fifties several days this week. Chilly enough to be happy to have a fire in the evening.

It's June 1st and I had to fire up the stove today......54 out 67 in.......
Brought it up to 70 in a couple hours, never thought I'd have the stove going in June.
The wife was happy that the stove was going when she got home from work.

We hit 39.5 this morning but the two Hemlock fires last night had the house at 72.

With the forecast I saw this morning, we might not need any fires for the rest of the week.
