I want it to be cold enough to even be able to stand a fire..... Heat and I don't do well together. This is July and August weather. Bad July and August weather. I'm not enjoying planting the potatoes. And after the small amount of rain we have had, the mosquitoes are now feasting on me. Have had a tick crawling on me every day for the last three days. Met seven deer this evening on the road just outside my gate. ON a positive side, an Osprey is nesting about 200 feet from our garden, on a power pylon is the neighboring farmers field. He just seeded yesterday, and sprayed his fields with manure today. Which was very pleasant accompaniment to the planting...I hope the Osprey is not bothered by the stink. Pretty soon they'll be spraying the Round up too...can't be good for bird or beast. Have been putting out water for the birds and frogs and toads....I know, that means also for the mosquitoes...but it has been so dry. Saw a small toad yesterday, and a small leopard frog today. First of each this year. Have a trillium with twelve petals! The phlox is now blooming in the woods. Our February to June wildflowers are all happening in a few weeks. Have wild orchids up already. I can hear it has started to rain. Yes, it is really coming down. Glad I covered my tomatoes. I have been leaving the seedlings out, it has been so hot. We had a powerful thunderstorm this morning, Loon, and I see from the forecast link you posted that we may have some more....I actually like thunderstorms. Guess I am not going to have to water the potatoes. Got five rows planted late today, in soil that was powder dry six inches deep. . It's really raining and blowing...maybe I should have brought the seedlings in....am off to check the windows .
Had to light off the nc-13 last night at the cottage. Re-kindled it this morning before I left on a newspaper run. 99 had it nice and hot in there when I got back! Tonight in the upper 30's; threw a chunk into the OWB. Neighbors cut their grass (just a little too early) so I'll be looking for a tire or tube for the rider (to play catch up with them) tomorrow. Burnt a brush pile and split some wood before we left the cottage this afternoon....it was too hot inside for some reason......
Got down to 30f this morning! Wasn't expecting that. Neither were the forecasters. Tuesdays high is mid 30's. Now this is the May weather I'm used to.
It's 67.5 on the Radio Shack Special, with a possible storm moving in I'm not sure what's on the schedule.
It has been looking like rain here for most of the day. But none yet. I think we got a little overnight. (Pavement was wet.) It is muggy out here.
Put the window a.c. in the master bath two days ago for she who thinks she must be obeyed, so got the 290 going just on principle. I think we'll only be burning kilowatts for awhile. Rain and thunderstorms yesterday, Rain on and off today. Temps in the upper 80s. Lots of critters out. Garter and water snakes, birds of every variety, mice out the wazoo, lots of deer on the roadsides.
On went the AC tonight. Started burning the kilowatts. The upstairs was 81 when I turned on the AC and a bit too muggy for comfort. Outside it is 74 degrees with the RH at 76.
Well, it's chilly again, and staying that way until Thursday, I guess. Thunderstorm, after a cloudy day. I have a small fire burning, just to take the chill off. We are supposed to be in the 30's tonight and tomorrow night, colder than had been forecast. Wednesday and Thursday had been forecast to be the colder nights. I'm not even going to look. I'll DIE if we loose the apple blossoms again this year. Got so hot, then it rained and all the apple trees (all the fruit trees, actually) leafed out and immediately went into profuse blossom. As soon as the blossoms opened, it got cold. No bee activity yesterday or today.....
30f now. Only getting into the mid 30's today and tonight will be into the 20's. A mixed percipitation coming down. Nothing sticking. Wonder what they ended up with out west?
Yikes. That weather sounds cold. It is going to cool down here as well. But not that cold. A low of 42 tonight and a low of 36. Ugh.
I here that loon ! About 5:00 I was on my way to start taking down a few dead trees in an area I am cleaning up. But the wind was crazy. It has been up and down here all day. When I went out the door it was cloudy, but the wind was down and it was beautiful. By the time I got down the road 150 yards the wind was picking up. By the time I got out of the truck to start getting the chaps on the wind was blowing like crazy. Time to do something else. LOL
It's still comfortable inside from last night's small fire, but it won't stay that way. As Loon and Gasifier have said, downright chilly out. A small fire is in order in an hour or so. If it stays chilly beyond tomorrow, then I am going to have to bring some more twigs and wood in....That's OK, I have twigs and small branches that need burning, and for a while there it was way to hot to do so. I much prefer this weather.
I wish I had a fire going. But I am now officially over to the Peerless and burning the black stuff. (It is kinda nice, in a way, after the last Sept.-Apr.)
