56º this morning. No fires in the last week. It has been nice to not have to tend to it lately. Out of wood now. I am going to get some standing dead Pine soon though. There will be some nights that are still a little chilly in the month of May. I can cut down on how much the oil burner runs for the little heat demand and our D.H.W.
Had a small fire sat night , 68 right now , 75 today . I think there will be some small fires her n there yet though , I don't mind that ,I don't want it to shoot up to 80-85 If it don't rain on me I'll drag some elm outa the woods today
Loon and Rotti, Did you see the forecast for Fri/Sat? 81 and 85. Calling for some thunderstorms later today. We need the rain. Gasifier, don't know how close you are to the river? Will you be as hot, or are you close enough to the Adirondacks to be modified a bit? Personally, I can do without 85, or even 81, in early May. That's just about as hot as I "like" in July and August.
Looks like the same forecast for us sherwood. Too warm for May for sure! Don't worry. It's just ............
Dry as it is, this weather is starting to look bad. Were supposed to have rain this afternoon. Shower line blew thru here this afternoon. Virtually no rain and it has cleared right back up. Could be a nasty summer if this keeps up.
Rain here. Good for my grass seed. I have not used the sprinkler on it yet. But, this week looks dry. I may have to later in the week.
Stayed around fifty all day today so we got a fire going right now, fine with me, better than 85 or 90
I just saw Accuweather (HA!) has changed the forecast low for May 14 from 43 (it was the coldest night, and after the 14th everything was supposed to be above 50 at night) to 31. Yes, if you believe they have a clue, 31 on May 14th. And there are quite a few cold nights predicted now. To put the transplants out or not..... Saw a red shouldered hawk, a grouse, and an osprey today, as well as two loons flying around the property for some reason. And of course the deer. Artan and I met them at the gate, and I almost went on a Nantucket sleigh ride. He also got kind of upset at a black squirrel on the way back. Lots of mosquitoes, just starting to bite, and (a sight I like to see) the first dragonflies of the spring. No frogs or toads. Or snakes. We are very dry. Lots of Merry Bells blooming...more than I've ever seen before, and also lots of yellow violets...we usually only have a few yellow. Trillium grandiflora all over the woods. Mid day weather is too hot for me. I was out gardening from 7 to 10 AM. 47 at 7, 75 at 10.
The T5 might not be done here yet Sherwood. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/canada/ontario/kingston?intcmp=twn_topnav_fx_7 day
I have had the windows open 24-7 for 2 1/2 days now. Looks like there is going to be some small fires this coming week though
