Rain today, driveway is a mess! Company left before the weather turns. Snow and wind will come later today.

58/68. Beautiful day here. Slight showers tomorrow. Just lit up with splitter scraps, chestnut oak, red oak and a piece of mulberry.

32 at the suburban homestead. Burning a mix of apple and Norway maple, with a couple small splits of black oak tossed in.

34* / 64* relit with Hard Maple. It snowed all day yesterday, didn't really add up up to much. Actually it pretty much snows every day for some part of the day. The mountains make their own weather.

This winter is going out like a lion up here in South Dakota. I have about a weeks worth of mulberry left and I'm burning some tonight. Screenshot_20230317_215107_Weather.jpg

28/70 quite a few red chunks of last night's hickory, maple and locust left. Supposed to hang in the low 30's today so shortly the stove will get some more of the same. Off to Amish country with the Mrs. for her birthday. Buffet breakfast with plenty of bacon !!!!

10F @ 9:30 am, ridiculously cold for this time of year. Hackberry and river birch. Got barely enough in the house for today. Gonna have to haul in some more for the 3rd “last time I’ll have to haul wood in this year”

Thanks! Woodstock Fireview. The fireview is just a much form as it is function. Catylitic and soapstone, no more shutting the upstairs doors, I over did it last night and it was 82 in the living room, 71 this morning.

We built the hearth last fall. IMG_6614.jpg

    IMG_6611.jpg

We get a thin layer of fly ash in the chimney. Not even a half sandwich bag full, using a soot eater. I just cleaned the air scoop( two cotter keys) and the cat to tap it out, 1/2 in box wrench and 5 min. They really put a lot of thought into it. I did not have a reduction of wood use 3 cord ish a year but the temp was 8° higher. Its a heating appliance and art.

Done plowing once again. Must have been around a foot. It was coming over the top of the plow once again even though I had it at full angle!
