Few pieces of white oak this morning. Supposed to get up to mid 40s today. A load in the morning and another before bed should be sufficient with the warm-up.

I looked this morning and nothing came down close to the house. I haven't been out in the woods yet.

45 here. Had a small fire this morning to take the chill off. Probably another small fire tonight.
    Red oak to the rescue.

Temperature is holding steady at 34 through the overnight. Just a small fire going at the moment. One split of elm, one sugar maple, and one thin split of hickory on top.

37/75. These walnut splits sure do leave the white fluffy ash. Similar to my newspaper discs.

Burned the coals down before reloading with 6 splits of chestnut oak.

I just looked at our forecast. It looks more like April than February. Snow won't last long now.

It was 52 when I went to bed last night so I didn't put a lot on the boiler. It was 26 when I got up and the boiler was empty. I managed to find a few embers and loaded up with some oak and hickory and it's running hard now.

Guess I should have looked closer at the forecast but the house is still plenty warm. That's twice this year I mis-judged and let it go out.
