Christmas Eve cold snap that caused my pipes to break- my neighbor with his OWB said he was up every couple hours checking on everything.

Sub twenty after dark until midday here. 10:00 last night the boiler was stuffed with ash from my notorious standing dead tree behind the house, and some odd ball beech rounds I tired of looking at and split/broke apart yesterday.

some of the ash was just starting to punk, so it had to go.

low forty as a high today- great to be working.

Ash and Pine loaded in this morning. The Elm and Ash did well overnight. I have the heat up in the garage to about 52 so it ate a whole load in 6 hours. The one before that was 5-1/2 hours. At these temperatures I sure am glad I’m heating with firewood!

How do you get a RealFeel that is less than the actual temperature?

12* woke up at 530 and loaded stove on nice bed of coals with BL. Went back to bed. Got up took pups out and when I came back in wife say, we don't have water. :headbang:.
Long story short or line from well comes out of bank, across a creek and back in bank. The first winter we moved in it froze because bad insulation. I reinsulated it and this year added heat tape and reinsulated. Didn't freeze during the Christmas cold snap, but decided to this morning.

Well we did loose power some time last night. Like "baby hearing" that you develop during those times, I have boiler fan "hearing". I woke up at your 2:30 am and something clicked that we might not have power (there are no visible outside lights or houses visible from ours) sure enough no humming refrigerator or night lights, nothing.
Now (as I was getting dressed for-17* walk to the generator) how long has it been out? How cold is the diesel engine on the genny? She fired right away :D
Now if I could only get back that time from that rude interruption to my beauty
    sleep....

The AccuWeather RealFeel Temperature takes into account the effects of multiple parameters, including air temperature, wind speed, solar intensity, humidity, precipitation intensity/type, elevation and atmospheric pressure.

The RealFeel Temperature can be warmer or colder than the actual temperature depending on the weather conditions.

So. Look how lucky you are to have that "warm" realfeal!

My wife’s CRV cranked hard outside this morning, but it started. We left it outside so we could put my son’s much older truck inside.

The band leaves early for All County Band Concert. Practice in the morning, and we go see the concert at 2PM.

-20/68, Beech in the stove now. I don't have a MM for my firewood, its CSS for 2 years. Humidity is near nothing. Frost building on the cap though.

I AM SO GLAD THIS LOOKS LIKE THE END OF THIS COLD SNAP. We have been fortunate with milder temperatures this season, so far. The forecast shows high 38 Sunday, 34 Monday, 40 Tuesday. Yes! Next two weeks don’t look too cold.
