Stayed below freezing all day and I'm sucking down the pellets and corn. 70 inside. 50% RH. I'm good with that. Still have 3 ton of pellets and 3 ton of seed corn in the barn. I cringe thinking about what pellets will cost next year. Probably over 300 bucks a ton. Need to go pick up my side of cow on Monday. Should be plenty enough for the remainder of the year. Amy wants all roasts, steaks and burger. Me, I don't care. Should be around 200 pounds dressed and wrapped. Meat is getting stupid expensive (like everything else today). Picked up 3 Ribeye steaks at the grocery for 37 bucks the other day and chicken is over 2 bucks a pound for drumsticks and thighs. The Ribeye's sucked, way too much fat. Pup got most of it. Least my custom butchered meat will be lean. I despise fat meat. Probably should defrost an Elk Roast for tomorrow.
charring some red oak up at our central Wisconsin cabin 25F out 69F in This wood stove was in our cabin when we bought it. Throws good heat. I don’t like the closed position of the door handle. But the previous owner said it never gave them any problems. We have not had any problems either and it passes the dollar bill test. We just give it good whack when closing. I think the previous owner put on a too thick gasket. Might be a summer project. Back plate says CFM Corporation Ontario Canada build date 8/04
We were forecsted for single digits last night but only got to 12. Mild temps on store for the next 5 days again.
Without seeing the inside, to see how the handle is assembled, I think an easy fix is cut the handle with a cut off wheel, flip it and weld it.
28/ 55 stove wasn't getting up to temp quick, figured CAT was getting a little clogged. Let fire go out to give it a sweep with brush and light vacuum. Loaded up with BL and oak and all systems are go!
23 this morning. I've got red oak and beech keeping us warm. Also uncovered a vein of hop--hornbeam which burns very well - wish I could get more of that. Happy Sunday!
It’s hovering around freezing at the moment with another mixed load of elm and red maple loaded up for the overnight.
