Warmer here , mid 40's right now.
Burning a little slab wood from the mill. Just a small fire to knock the dampness out of the house.

Sitting around -20 C/-4 F so far today, so not bad. Had a few "not quite there" rounds in the stove at bedtime to keep some coals for morning, and now performing window clean inferno mode with small pine. I'm lazy that way.

47/71 no fire since last night. Warm here till Thursday when at least the seasonal temps return. Wife and I had a drink last night at midnight. I drank a whole glass of sparkling grape juice :D. Getting ready to work on a crock pot of pork and kraut.

34 this evening. Burning a mix of hard and softwoods. Maple, Ash, Beech, Spruce. Just got the boiler and tank back up to temperature.

While we were away almost all the snow we received in that blizzard is gone. Unbelievable. I’m not disappointed though. Things will soon freeze back up and it will be easier to get around and cut firewood with less snow! :saw::dex:

I think I might have burned one cord so far. Pretty crazy. With my old Bakers, I was going through at least 5-6 per season. Now it’s about 4 but at this years rate, might be 2-3. I’m definitely not complaining!!

37/68. Just lighting up some pine to take the edge off the overnight chill.

Minus 6 today. At least it is not snowing. With the accumulation of snow and ice, I will not be able to access any firewood for at least another month.

Had a few inches of snow so I took a couple pics. Off the back deck and looking up the road after shoveling the drive. IMG_20230102_095437125_HDR[1].jpg

39 F at 4:15PM on January 2nd. Just loaded a couple more large splits of White Spruce.

It is just over a week after a significant blizzard that dropped two feet of snow on us. About 90 +% of that snow is gone. The temperatures from the last week have almost all of it gone except the piles and the shady areas.

Didn’t think I would see a blizzard like that and then watch temperatures turn to 40-50F and take all of its affects away within 7 days.
