Amazing what 58F does to a foot of snow. And a green lawn reappeared.

Hovering around -15 C/5 F today, so very decent by all accounts. We'll pay for for it sometime...lots of winter still ahead lol pine chunks for breakfast.

Went out for dinner last night with friends. This place can get stupid wait times and we went early and had a few at the bar afterwards. We waited outside, it was over 50° , nearly 60° . It's almost January and about 60°. All of our snow is gone. Except for the drifts that were huge, probably.

Ash in the quadrafire, temps dropped overnight to 38° now, and apparently will slowly keep dropping throughout the day and supposedly go back to freezing by 7pm.

68° in the back hall, 71° in stove room

Another minus 2 day.Snowed 2 inches overnight, still snowing this morning. Fresh snow over ice is a bad combination.

-4c/24f right now with a skiff of snow and snowing lightly. Lots of ice in the Kootenays as well doug fir but at least our roads have gotten a lot better over the last few days. I live on a bit of a hill and our street is treacherous. I went to Canadian Tire yesterday and tried to buy some driveway salt. They laughed at me. I guess everyone has the same idea as me. I let the stove go out last night and still havent lit it. Ill get around to it in a bit but until then Im letting our new furnace do its thing.

Flying solo last night, oops ran out of pellets overnight, was 50* inside when I woke up  Like another posted here, used oven and portable oil heater to warm up after getting the stove going again, took hours

Thanks, Bid! I definitely have dog and kid play areas as well. Truth be told, I probably love those areas more than the view.

Today’s high of 60 dropped down to 48 but it’s not falling much more overnight. I have a small black locust fire turned down low which should keep the heat from kicking on while we sleep.

I just lit the stove. It's been out all day.

A few pieces of ash will be fine for overnight. Heading back into the 50's tomorrow

Dropped to 16 (now) overnight-so far. Still 71 inside; I fired up the Kuuma around 9:30.

The house was up to 80 last evening so I let the fire die. Down to 71 when I got up at 330 so I started a small fire. It's up to 77 now and fire is down to coals.

Been burning 24/7 for the last couple months so it's a shock to see it creeping up on 50 outside today. Had the fire going this morning with some hemlock but have been letting it die out so I can change out the stove bricks this evening. SS wood on the last day of December, who would have thought?

Another minus 2 day, but no snow! Going through the Douglas fir, but no worry, another 3 cords dried and ready.

Had a few pieces of oak and ash. Didn't even load last night as it was only like 50f or something it's in the 60s now.

The last weekend in that cold I was burning oak , persimmon and Ash as fast as I could to try to keep it warm in here!

It's 32F oh the horror of it! I had to put on long sleeves to run to the grocery store earlier. This weather is stupid for New Years eve. Looks to be well above normal for the next couple weeks which means soft ground and no log skidding. That means buying log loads again. Maple and some Sassafras in the boiler. Not real sure where that came from, but whatever. I could heat with pizza boxes in this weather.

Currently 47/75. Burning some of my pine in hopes it doesn’t get too hot inside. Definitely letting the fire go out. Expecting 57 tomorrow! Sheesh. At this rate I’ll be way beyond the 5 year plan!
