The 9:30pm reload of white oak on Christmas Eve left me with plenty of coals at 7:30 this morning for an easy relight. It’s 16 now and rising to the mid 20s later. Still burning white oak with a little spruce and black locust mixed in.
It was 11 degrees outside and 65 degrees inside this morning. Supposed to be mid 50's today. Merry Christmas everyone.
16/72 burning a mixed bag. Cat converter was up to 1600 and had the pot on the stove steaming when we were opening presents
Wow, 31*/75* not sure what's up with our overnight lows but I'll take it! Back to nights in the teens soon.
Are we talking about the same Hearthstone One stove ? I ask that because they stopped making them years ago.I found mine through Jim at Hearthstone who told me about the gentleman who restores and sells them.
It looks like a desert out here with sand dunes, super windy last night, the winds deposited a layer of dirt on everything. Turned our neat though, it was so loud kiddo jumped in bed with use, then the dog and cat, the whole house slept together last night, Christmas Eve memory
-8c/17f this morning. Ill take it! We have a outside get together with friends this afternoon around a fire which we wouldn't have done the other day when it was -37c/-34f ! Merry Christmas everyone!
11/68. Enjoying the above zero warm up with little wind. Sooo much easier to keep the indoor temps up with the nice weather. Sounds like another shot of snow overnight. Just pulled coals to the front for a little burn down time. Good day of lounging with the wife, good food, and football!
14/71. Load of tulip poplar, ash and a little bit of hickory mixed in. Wood consumption down from the last couple days.
14F and very little wind here as well. Nice night. Oak in the boiler, but way less than has been loaded the last few days.
People don't understand how we can consider -25°F Warm. I guess they've never been in 50 and 60 below ambient.
18/76 one small round of mulberry, rest was chestnut oak. Burned a couple pieces of pine to get my coals down before that load.
I get it , when you go from 5 degrees with 40 mile an hour wind to 20 degrees with 10 mile an hour wind ,it feels warm.
Merry Christmas to all !! -17 last I looked. Winds S.E at 15 to 20 with lots of gusts to 40 plus mph. Made Christmas dinner at a friend's place today . Had some friends over after church. I ate too much ! Nodding in and out now in the recliner. Many year seasoned spruce keeping us warm. Speaking of old verses modern woodstoves. I very much want to get a Blaze King Princess for the house. But ponying up 4 grand is really a LOT. The primary reason is longer burn times. Using less wood would be a plus, but . Using 3 cord of wood less per year would take a long time to make up the difference.
