They're telling me it's 5*. Didn't have power for half the day yesterday and again it went out last night. I planned on feeding the stove at 3:30am, but over slept. Didn't reload until 4:30 and fire was out for most part. Stove room was still 65*, which I'll take with this farmhouse.
Just reloaded with BL. Pretty impressed this Lopi has been keeping house warm, without fan.

Side note, power went out when we switched clothes to the dryer. Washer/ dryer are in an old enclosed porch. The clothes in the dryer were frozen.

I know my IS has cut our wood use by a third and is a beast when dialed in. I am still learning how to operate it and like some say, yes can have an issue with coal buildup. If I stay on top of it I can keep them within reason at least. Currently a split of cedar to knock them down a bit and load it for the day/weekend as we will be out of town. I know my SO loves to just add wood and nothing else, then wonders why it doesn't heat as well.

Merry Christmas to all FHC members.

They actually burst before we moved in. I replaced them with pex, which if they do freeze can expand more. So far no frozen lines. Knock on black locust!

Try opening the draft (full) just before the burn is down to all coals. It helps a lot.

All the way up to 5 and the wind has really died down. Just came in from morning chores and it felt decent outside.

Boiler is still half full of oak and hickory from yesterday.

It's already 10 degrees here, but the best part is..........no wind. That's rare, no matter the temp. Supposed to hit 20. House is warming up quite a bit faster today.

We are cooking here. Warmed up 81 degrees in 30 hours. 31/78. Unseasonably warm.

Yes! Biggest plus is the winds really died down. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and rent a lift to trim this maple, for stress reduction.

Hahah! They do this somewhere every few years. Little town in the lower peninsula named Hell. Every time we get a cold snap somebody dusts off the Hell froze over headline.

Like Camber I have had several stoves the Fireview and Blaze King King included. You know I was wrong making a blanket statement that the Pre stoves out heat the newer models.I had overlooked your wise point of "If you have the right stove".The difficult journey is finding the right stove. That's why I've been through several brands over the years and finally found the right combination.Backwoods it also sounds like your house is very tight or small in size.Is that so ?

What is the right stove Dennis? 1500 square foot home. Old. I'm tearing it down in about four years and rebuilding. I'm a qualified installer, through my home building business. I have done this for years, and have yet to find the right government stove for every home or person. Some people have to work and are not home for 10 to 12 hours a day. Up here where it gets a lot colder for a lot longer, there just isn't a firebox box big enough to keep a home warm consistently. The only application I've seen where people don't call for a replacement is in newer trailer houses. (modular included). I sure would like to know if you have the answer. There are only two other installers within a 100 miles that are doing poorly because they don't understand out climate.

I could sure help a bunch of clients if you have the knowledge. Thanks.
