What stove does that house have? Any of the trees in the picture good for burning?

    Enjoy the vacation...

40f right now. Was down to 28 last night. She who thinks she must be obeyed let me know about it when she got home at 630, so I started a little fire in the princess. Dead maple and scrappies from the back yard.

We had 22.4 this morning, just another load of Cherry this morning.

I think we have another two loads of Cherry outside then it's off to the Hemlock.

Havent looked yet but I'd guess around 32. I'm so sick of looking at that thermometer and having a sinking feeling afterwards that I just don't want to do it anymore.
Off and on quarter size snowflakes the last hour.:headbang: Melting as it hits the ground.
I wanna go back to bed and wake up in a month when its 50+ and the grass is green.

Also mid-20's here. We are having a nice gradual melt this spring and the basement has been almost dry
due to the slower process. Can't remember the last year we had that happen.
Saturday everything was white, again. But by afternoon, the fresh overnight stuff had gone.
Forecast for the week; highs in low to high 40's. The lows will be just below freezing (mid to upper 20's).

Mid 20's here also. Supposed to snow all day into the evening with the temps getting up into the low 30's. Gradual warm up here as well.

Right where I want to be.
Knew it was coming, but awoke to almost 3" of new snow.
Temps aren't bad at about 30 right now, and another gradual warmup on the way.
I only had 2.5 cords of Oak scheduled for use in the shed....I'll have more in there next winter in case of another cold Jan.-Feb.
I'm now burning up some of the other Oak I have in the shed I was hoping to save for next winter. I should have had that in with the cold weather wood.
Oh well,.....my new shed loading plan is now looking better all the time.

Had to go to page 2 for this thread! That's another sure sign of Spring. Which I can use this early morning. Just looked out the door, and it sure looks like winter again. Several inches of pristine snow, and everything is white once more. I guess the pooch gets one more romp in the woods. Won't he be delighted after two days in harness.

Ummmm.@Sherwood. You're on page 121 of this thread.. I know what you mean though. I think you thought you were on the other "Spring" thread. Maybe? Or did I just have another "moment"?

Just South of 30ยบ. Wet snow on everything. Not too much, but enough to make me not like Spring right now. Pine in the boiler.

I've read a couple reports of snow already...maybe I should take a look outside? Naw, it can wait.
Could be, though. Its in the upper 20's now.

First nite it has remained well above freezing all nite.
1st winter in MANY years I made it through without catching cold,,,,, yesterday my luck ran out. Feeling like chit!
Mostly coal loads and some small sticks of wood these days. Sometimes I'll get 24 hour or longer burns this time of year.

Had to go to page two of the " Firewood Neighborhood" to find the thread....sorry, should have been more explicit.

Meanwhile, it is the prettiest right now that it has been all winter. We have about three inches of snow, the trees and shrubs are all coated with about three inches of snow, show is falling in huge goblets, the sun is shining brilliantly, and the birds are very active, calling away. Artan just went for a glorious run, and came back covered with snowballs on his (shorn, thank goodness) legs and a good amount of snow on his back. The snow is falling off the trees in such large blobs that one can heat them hit the ground...sounds like a big snowball battle is occurring.

Hope all the snow falls from the trees before any wind. Right now, the treetops must be very heavy.

    But it is beautiful.

Just back from walking the dog about 1 1/2 miles, and bringing about 24 sapling trunks into the yard from where they were staged on the road. Also got a wheelbarrow of uglies from the sugar maple stack near the hydro lines. About another 24 sapling trunks to move in this afternoon, then I'll cut them all to length and stack[and be able to get the car down the road again]. About half or more of the snow is gone, but most is still on the road, so the sun has not made the road muddy yet. Absolutely beautiful out. About 46 degrees with bright sun. I love the Autumn and Spring. Lots of birds looking for mates right now. Lot of singing and calling, including the hawks, owls and pileateds.
