A not so balmy -31 C feels -39 C / -24 F feels -38 F this morning. Getting some slushicles in the water lines when I first ran the water this morning. Burning pine, heating oil, and a 30 minute boost from the welfare furnace (stove) :rofl: :rofl:  Should be out of this cold snap in a matter of days.

It’s on the warm side at 50 here but it’s damp so the house felt chilly. Burning some 2 year dried ash this evening.

About 38 here and that appears to be the overnight low. So I filled the Wood Gun with Pine for the overnight. Mid 40s and rain tomorrow.

In the fifties now, but have to get the boiler back up to temp. I the pump failed, but has been replaced. The tech who installed the system, said it had an electric problem. If it was mechanical, he would have rebuilt it .

have some seasoned birch resting on coals at the moment. Some maple to follow

It is amazing at this time of year to let the stove go out. Normally we are not starting new fires this time of the year.

29f now heading to 38, maybe. Sounds like frozen mix for tomorrow and back to 20's for lows and upper 30's - 40's for the next week or so. Most of the wood I have not is 3 YO mulberry and it's almost too much. May be out of town starting tomorrow until Sunday so may let the stove go cold and just let the NG take care of things. Be a good time to clean out the stove anyway.

Yesterday & today it's been mild. Mid 50s.
Small fire last night of oak and cottonwood. House was 67 this morning so I didn't bother with a fire before work.
    Probably another small fire tonight.

40 this evening. White Pine loaded into Wood Gun again for the overnight. Luckily the burn chamber is big enough to accommodate enough Pine to get through 10 hours at these temperatures. Low of 34 expected by 6 am.
